While breast cancer awareness month ended on October 31st, LDN still has a few more pink pictures to share with readers. This is fitting because it helps us remember that breast cancer doesn't go away just because the month has ended. Warriors fight year-round through holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and in all the months of the calendar year. Showing support for those in battle should always be on our minds.

Today, the first two pictures come from the staff of the Logan Correctional Center and the Town and Country Bank. We thank these folks for their continued support of our warriors.

The next two pictures are special. Submitted by the Lincoln Elementary School District 27 and Superintendent Kent Froebe, the top pic on the left features the Lincoln Junior High School Student Council members. A photo of Student Council President Preston Hunt handing over $85 in cash to Principal Mike Workman is to the right.

District 27, once again this year, took on the Pink Challenge to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The student council also pitched in and collected the money to add to the pot. The district fundraiser will be bringing in $555 for the ACS.

The second row of pictures features District 27 principals and administration members at the District 27 office on the left and the staff and faculty of Lincoln Junior High School on the right.

On Friday afternoon, the Lincoln Police Department hosted a reception in honor of Chief Paul Adams, who is retiring from the force after 24 years of service.

At tonight's meeting of the Lincoln City Council, Deputy Chief Matt Vlahovich will be sworn into the position of Lincoln Chief of Police. Adams and Vlahovich have worked together for 17 years, serving the last five years as chief and deputy chief. A friendly handshake for the camera signified the unofficial passing of the torch between the two friends and co-workers.

On Saturday morning, Lincoln Mayor Tracy Welch and wife Annette took on their alter egos as local members of the Ghostbuster organization. Their goal was to be ready to appease the Marshmallow giant before he ravished the town in search of candy. In the meantime, the tinier though no less threatening spirits visited Latham Park and the Mayor. There, Mayor Welch handed out sweet treats, while Mrs. Welch passed out maps of the downtown well marked with area businesses willing to pay the price of candy to keep peace in the city.

In the end, disaster was averted as all the little ones went home satisfied, and the Marshmallow giant decided to terrorize another community and leave Lincoln alone.
