Paint the Paper Pink

Today, Lincoln Daily News publishes its last Paint the Paper Pink picture for 2021. The photo is of the staff and ownership of LDN, part of the Friends and Family Relay Team.

There are no words big enough or eloquent enough to express just how appreciative we are of all those who came forward to show their support for breast cancer awareness month in October. In all, LDN published 69 photos that contained a total of 720 people. We recognize that some folks were in more than one photo, but we still feel safe in saying there were more than 700 who were happy to put on their pink in support of ‘the cause.’

We also want to say a huge thank you to those who took the pink challenge, supported the pink pumpkin auction or bought raffle tickets for the pistols, the patriotic quilt, toy tractor with wagon and the kiddie motorcycle. Thanks to your generosity, the Friends and Family Relay Team will be forwarding about $30,000 to the American Cancer Society for research and support as that organization works to help battle all types of cancer and find cures.

We often say that Logan County is the kindest, most caring, most generous community in our country. Your participation in breast cancer awareness this month is just one fine example of why that surely must be true.

At the Monday night meeting of the Lincoln City Council, the first few minutes were dedicated to transition and change.

Mayor Tracy Welch recognized retiring Police Chief Paul Adams.

The council welcomed a new Chief of Police, Matt Vlahovich.

The council also welcomed a new member. Tony Zurkammer was sworn in as the Ward 2 alderman replacing Ron Fleshman.
