This is a great time to remind our readers that while the majority of breast cancer diagnoses are in women, it can happen to men as well.

So, fella’s take care of your health. If you notice a change don’t assume you are exempt from this disease.

On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, the New Central Illinois Urgent Care located at 602 Woodlawn Road in Lincoln will open its doors to the public.

To commemorate the day, Primary Physician Dr. Paul Toofan invites the community to a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon. Following the cut, spend some time getting to know the new doctor and his staff, and how the urgent care will benefit our community.

Today Lincoln Daily News is proud to bring its readers the story of Gena Richmond, a very recent breast cancer survivor. Gena found her cancer early this year, and after seven months of chemotherapy was able to ring the bell at the treatment center signifying her treatments were completed. While that was a terrific milestone, it was not the end for Richmond and her wife Christy as Gena had a bilateral mastectomy, five weeks of radiation therapy followed by a complete hysterectomy. In spite of the tough battle, Gena is thankful for the journey and all those that showed their love and support toward her and her family along the way.

Read Gena’s story in today’s edition of Lincoln Daily News.
