Today is the first
edition of the New Year at Lincoln Daily News, and
as we enter 2024, we will continue a long-standing
tradition of looking back at the year that was.
We begin with photos that were taken or submitted by
readers throughout the year, that make a specific
impression on us as staff at the paper. To make it
easier for the staff, we have divided the years into
quarters and asked Karen Castelein, Devyn Fry,
Chassidy White, and Jeff Wyles to choose favorites
from only one quarter of the year.
The first section today will be Castelein’s
favorites from January, February and March. The top
picture today is from February 2023 and features all
forty favorite pictures from the prior year, 2022.
The poster in the front window of LDN was dubbed as
our valentine card to the community. Each picture
featured something or someone who made an impression
on staff and the community in that year.
