Today the pink shirt picture for the Lincoln Daily News Paint the Paper Pink campaign features the Logan County Board.

The board has put on their pink shirts as a show of emotional support for their constituents who are battling breast cancer. Earlier this month, the board also decided to “paint” the courthouse pink with its special lighting as an additional reminder that no warrior fights alone, the community is behind them.

Thanks to the Logan County Board for being a part of this year’s campaign.

Recently, Lincoln Daily News dropped in to visit with the new owner of Abe’s Carmelcorn Shoppe. Michael Simonson was there, along with his daughter Anastin. The two are busy in their new endeavor but were happy to stop long enough for a photo.

Michael says that he is very excited about the warm welcome he is getting from the downtown community and from long-time Abe’s customers who are happy to see that the store will remain intact and go on as it has in the past.

Simonson said that he purchased the business name as well as the popcorn. And, he is excited that he is already taking holiday orders. With dozens of customers reaching out and placing those gift orders, he says he and Anastin are going to be hopping and popping right into the holiday season.
