Lincoln
man indicted by grand jury
Christopher C. Sprinkle, 405 Community Dr., was
indicted for predatory criminal sexual assault by a grand jury in
a May 8 trial, with Judge Coogan presiding.
Sprinkle is accused of sexual assault of a child, a class X
felony, which carries up to a 30-year sentence if convicted.
Sprinkle entered a not guilty plea at arraignment May 9
and will be tried by a jury.
Jury trial docket scheduling is June 8, with the trial
expected to possibly begin in mid- to late June.
The charge stems from an alleged incident April 7
involving a Lincoln child under the age of 13.
Department of Children and Family Services filed a
complaint April 17 with Logan County State's Attorney William G.
Workman. Workman
issued a warrant for Sprinkle's arrest. The Lincoln Police
Department has been part of the investigation in the case, with
Detective John Brunner called as a witness.
Sprinkle turned himself in to Springfield police April 18.
Sprinkle has retained the services of Springfield
attorney Bruce D. Locher for his defense.
