Updated figures available for
cost of farm operations

The
long-awaited updates to the "Machinery Cost Estimates:
Operation Costs" are now available from University of Illinois
Extension. These figures are commonly referred to as "custom
rates," but are not actually custom rates, since those are
usually based on surveys of people doing field operations for cash.
The U of I has instead developed a system of actual costs of
operations based on depreciation, interest, insurance, housing,
repairs, fuel and labor.

22 through June 4, which includes the Memorial Day weekend, is the
first enforcement period for the "click it or ticket"
campaign to enforce the state of Illinois mandatory seat belt law.
According to Trooper Dan Beck of Illinois State Police District 9,
305 state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies are taking
part in the campaign.

Youth Board

Illinois Drug Education Alliance (IDEA) has chosen two Lincoln young
people to serve on the IDEA Youth Board. Samantha Hudelson, daughter
of Donald and Janet Hudelson, and Elizabeth Carmitchel, daughter of
Bruce and Jan Carmitchel, were selected to serve the state of
Illinois in promoting the prevention of drugs and alcohol.
