Lois Jones

Lois D. Jones, 94, of Lincoln, formerly of Atlanta, died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Atlanta Christian Centre. John McVey will officiate.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker.

She was born Oct. 5, 1906, at Windsor, N.D., to Abraham and Ella (Upton) Vannoy. She married Charles Smith on July 31, 1927, in Lincoln. He died Dec. 31, 1937. She married Leslie Jones in January 1939 at St. Louis, Mo. He died June 29, 1975.

Surviving are four daughters, Delores Robbins of Lincoln, Charlene (and Grover) Fulk of Lincoln, Willa Sapp of Lincoln and Julia (and Jerry) Adams of Atlanta; three sons, Charles (and Mary) Smith Jr. of Lincoln, Harold O. (and Leona) Jones of Clinton and Leslie Vernon (and Doris) Jones of Lincoln; 43 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Bruner of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, four brothers and two sisters.

She was a member of the Atlanta Christian Centre.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Atlanta Christian Centre or a charity of the donor’s choice.
