Clifford
J. Wilmert, 91, of Lincoln died at 7:05 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000,
at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at St. John United
Church of Christ in Lincoln, with the Rev. Rich Reinwald
officiating.
Burial
will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be one hour before the services Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home in Lincoln.
Wilmert
was a retired farmer.
He
was born Sept. 7, 1909, in Chester Township, rural Lincoln, to Fred
J. and Minnie C. (Dahmm) Wilmert. He married Margaret A. Sparks on
May 24, 1938, in Lincoln.
Surviving
are his wife, Margaret Wilmert of Lincoln; one son, John (and Alice)
Wilmert of Lincoln; three grandchildren and three
step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four
step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wilbur J. Wilmert of
Lincoln.
He
was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Orville F.
Wilmert and Elmer C. Wilmert.
He
was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln and the
church’s Brotherhood and Pairs and Spares groups, as well as a
former Sunday School teacher and member of the church council. He
was chairman of Christian Rural Overseas Program (C.R.O.P.) of
Chester Township for 30 years; was a member of the Logan County Farm
Bureau; and served on the Chester-East Lincoln School Board during
consolidation in the early 1950s.
