Doris
Karrick, 80, of Atlanta, died at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001,
at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Funeral
services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Quiram
Funeral Home in Atlanta. The Rev. David Venter will officiate.
Burial
will be in Atlanta Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Before
retiring in 1981, Mrs. Karrick was employed at General Electric in
Bloomington for 23 years.
She
was born Jan. 9, 1921, at Atlanta, the daughter of Ross and Effie
(Sea) Ludlam. She married Russell Karrick on Sept. 19, 1964, in
Lincoln. He died Aug. 20, 1991.
Surviving
are one son, S. Lee (Rose) Wikoff of Indianola, Iowa; one daughter,
Nancy Fishburn of Atlanta; one grandson, Richard Wikoff; four
great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edna Fuller of Atlanta.
She
was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one grandson.
She
was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 1756, a past
president of VFW District 10, a member of the American Legion
Auxiliary 263, the Atlanta United Methodist Church, the Atlanta
Woman’s Club, the Logan County 40 et 8 and the General Electric
Quarter Century Club.
Memorials
may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad or the VFW Cancer Research
Fund.

Robert
E. Miller, 61, of Lincoln, formerly of Atlanta, died at 12:40 p.m.
Saturday, April 21, 2001, at his home.
Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the First
Presbyterian Church in Lincoln. The Rev. Paul Gilmore will
officiate.
Burial
will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta.
There will be at Elk’s Lodge 914 service at 7:45 p.m. at the
funeral home.
Miller
was the State Farm insurance agent in Atlanta for 28 years.
He
was born Sept. 25, 1939, at Weldon, to Donald E. and Vera E. (Enochson)
Miller. He married Karen Marcotte on Sept. 11, 1982, at Osage Beach,
Mo. She survives.
Also
surviving are his mother, Vera Miller of Lincoln; three daughters,
Julie (Gary) Frantz of Atlanta, Christen (Gary) Henderson of
Atlanta, Elizabeth (Mark) Howard of Atlanta; one son, David Miller
of Bloomington; two stepdaughters, Pam Green of Rochester and Cindy
Marcotte of Lincoln; one stepson, Randy (Denise) Marcotte of Auburn,
Penn.; 11 grandchildren; and one sister, Delores (Merlin) Billington
of Atlanta.
He
was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Donald.
He
was a member of the Lincoln Elk’s Lodge 914 and of the First
Presbyterian Church, Lincoln. He served on the Olympia School Board
of Education for several years.

Eunice
Campbell, 93, of Lincoln died at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2001,
at Christian Nursing Home.
Funeral
services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 23, at Holland and Barry
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial
will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery in New Holland.
There
will no visitation.
Mrs.
Campbell worked for over 30 years as a bookkeeper for her husband’s
Chrysler dealership in Lincoln.
She
was born on Jan. 31, 1908, in Eminence Township, near Atlanta, to
Clarence and Rosa (Conover) Leach. She married Edgar A. Campbell in
Lincoln on Aug. 9, 1936. He died May 17, 1986.
She
is survived by a daughter, Marcella Holland of Dallas, Texas; five
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, LaVene Montgomery of
Lincoln.
She
was also preceded in death by a son, Edward B. Campbell.
Mrs.
Campbell was a member of Lincoln Christian Church. She was a past
matron of the order of Eastern Star Chapter 351, past president of
Lincoln Woman’s Club, second president of ALMH Auxiliary, served
on the ALMH board for six years and on the state board for hospital
auxiliaries with the Illinois Hospital Association for nine years.
She
graduated from Atlanta High School and Lincoln Business College.

Holloway
Ronald
N. Holloway, 92, of Lincoln died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, April 22,
2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
The
Rev. Paul Gilmore will officiate at graveside services Tuesday,
April 24, at 1:30 p.m. at Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral home is handling arrangements. There will be no visitation.
Holloway
retired from Central Illinois Electric and Gas after working as area
manager for 39 years.
He
was born to Frank R. and Lucile (Nichols) Holloway on Nov. 16, 1908,
in Lincoln. He married Leona C. Loercher on May 9,1936, in Lincoln.
Holloway
is survived by one son, Gene Holloway of Sedona, Ariz.; one
grandson, Kevin Holloway of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and one
granddaughter, Kristin Ann Holloway Wills of Leesburg, Va.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one granddaughter and
one sister.
Holloway
made many contributions to community and had numerous
accomplishments. He was the October 1961 Courier Citizen of the
Month, the 1956 Man of the Year in Bement, past president of the
Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce, member of the Bement Masonic
Lodge 365, chairman of the Logan County Chapter of the March of
Dimes for 12 years, and on the board of trustees of Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital from 1964 to 1972.
He
was a graduate of Lincoln Community High School, attended Lincoln
College, University of Wisconsin and University of Illinois. Also,
he taught at Glenwild School near Lincoln.

Turner Jr., 74, of rural Atlanta died at 8:09 p.m. Saturday, April
21, 2001, at the Hopedale Medical Complex in Hopedale.
Funeral
services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Armington
Christian Church, with Vernon L. Oakley and John Horner officiating.
Burial
is to be in Mountjoy Cemetery, rural Atlanta, with military rites
conducted by the Armington American Legion, Taylor-Eckhardt Post

Atlanta is in charge of the arrangements.
Turner
was engaged in farming and also worked for the Illinois Department
of Transportation several years before retiring in 1980.
He
was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He
was born April 15, 1927, in rural Atlanta to Gilbert and Laura
(Petty) Turner. He married Orvetta M. Horner on Dec. 15, 1951, at
rural Atlanta. She survives.
Also
surviving are two sons, Gilbert (Jan) Turner III of Atlanta and John
(Kim) Turner of Atlanta; one daughter, Peggy (John) Haning of Minier;
eight grandchildren; two brothers, William H. Turner of Atlanta and
Raymond Turner of Lincoln; and two sisters, Maxine Snyder of Raymond
and Eleanor Schmidt of Atlanta.
He
was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Gene Turner; one
sister, Della Mae Naffziger; and Leo "Buck" Carpenter, who
was also raised by the Turner family.
He
was a member of the Armington American Legion Taylor-Eckhardt Post
913 and the Eminence Christian Church, rural Atlanta. He served on
the Armington School Board several years and was an Eminence
Township trustee.

Robert
E. Gulso, 78, of Mount Pulaski died at 9:35 a.m. Saturday, April 21,
2001, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Funeral
services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Mount Pulaski
Christian Church, with Boyce Moulton and John Robertson officiating.
Burial
will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Camp Butler National Cemetery in
Riverton. Military rites will be accorded by the Mount Pulaski
American Legion.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home in Mount Pulaski.
Gulso
was a retired farmer.
He
was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a minesweeper on the
USS YMS50 in the Pacific and was injured when the ship sank.
He
was born Jan. 25, 1923, in Lanesville Township, rural Illiopolis, to
Neal and Macie (Drabing) Gulso. He married Geneva Casstevens on Aug.
26, 1945, in Mount Pulaski. She survives.
Also
surviving are two sons, Steven (Rosalie) Gulso of Macon, Mo., and
Alan (Sandra) Gulso of Lincoln; one daughter, Donna Jean (Rick)
Wachter of Naperville; and six grandchildren.
His
parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
He
was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian Church and American Legion
Post 447. He was past president of the Illinois Shorthorn
Association and served on the Board of Education for Mount Pulaski
High School.
