John Ondecko

John James "Jack" Ondecko, 76, of Lincoln died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church.

Ondecko was an artist and production controller for IBM Science Research in Chicago.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was born June 15, 1925, in Binghamton, N.Y., to John and Emily Valent Ondecko. He married Audrey Louise Weikel on March 3, 1962, in Springfield.

Surviving are his wife, in Lincoln, and one sister, Loretta Kubica of Binghamton, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

He was a member of Holy Family Church.

Memorials may be made to his church.

Clea Hinds

Clea Eileen Hinds, 81, of Lincoln died at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Springfield.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hinds was a cook at Elkhart Grade School for 13 years and was employed at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield for 18 years.

She was born Dec. 4, 1919, at Buffalo Hart to Donald and Clea Burris Febus. She married George Fred Hinds on June 17, 1937, in St. Louis, Mo. He died in 1974.

Surviving Mrs. Hinds are one son, Donald Dale Hinds (and Kay) of Tennessee; three daughters, Karon Walsh (and Roger) of Florida, Jackie Riggs (and Larry) of Lincoln and Debbie Jones (and Dallas) of Lincoln; one brother, William Febus of Rochester; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one son, Kenneth Fred.

She was of the Christian faith.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
