Delbert
Charles Lechleiter, 94, of Lincoln died at 4:13 a.m. Sunday, Aug.
12, 2001, at Maple Ridge Care Center in Lincoln.
His
funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Holy
Family Catholic Church in Lincoln, with Father Thomas Taylor
officiating.
Burial
will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home
in Lincoln.
Lechleiter
farmed in Logan County for many years before retiring at age 83.
He
was born Nov. 20, 1906, at Burton View to Charles and Margaret
Semple Lechleiter. He married Lucille Rohlfs in Lincoln on Feb. 16,
1944. She survives.
Also
surviving are one son, Edward H. Lechleiter of Hartsburg; two
sisters, Pauline Brinkmeyer and Beuhlah Lechleiter, both of Lincoln;
two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He
was preceded in death by two sons, Gilbert Lee and Ronald Delbert
Lechleiter; one daughter, Judith Ann Lechleiter; and one sister.
He
was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln and the
Knights of Columbus.
Memorials
may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church of Lincoln.

McGee
John
A. McGee, 20, of Anderson, Ind., formerly of Virden, died at 10:45
a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at his home.
His
funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at the United
Pentecostal Church of Virden. A
graveside service was at 3 p.m. Monday at Graham Chapel Cemetery,
Allenville. McGee
attended Indiana Bible College in Indianapolis, Ind. He
was born March 9, 1981, in Lincoln to the Rev. James D. and Julia A.
Spaugh McGee. Surviving
are his parents, in Virden; one brother, Justin D. McGee of Virden;
one sister, Jennifer L. McGee of Virden; his grandparents, Charles
and Judy Spaugh of Lincoln and Earl and Peggy McGee of Flint, Mich.;
and aunts and uncles Barbara McGee, Robert and Linda McGee, William
and Marina McGee, Michael and Buffy McGee, all of Flint, Mich.,
Richard and Melva McGee of Clinton, David and Joyce McGee of
Anderson, Ind., Rhonda and Joseph Morley of Newark, Del., Roger and
Elizabeth Spaugh of Barnhart, Mo., and Carrie and Rick Orth of
Burlington, Iowa. He
was preceded in death by an uncle, Mike Spaugh. He
was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Anderson, Ind. He
was a 1999 graduate of Virden High School and had been a member of
the Illinois All-State Youth Choir. Memorials
may be made to the United Pentecostal Church of Virden and to the
family of John A. McGee.

Robert
Dowell
Robert
Clinton Dowell, 79, of Lincoln died at 10:25 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20,
2001, at his home.
His
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Lincoln Southern
Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Shaw officiating.
Burial
will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Holland and Barry
Funeral Home in Lincoln and at the church on Wednesday, one hour
before the service.
Dowell
farmed many years for Leroy Allison farms. He also worked as an
electrician for the Lincoln Developmental Center before retiring
Dec. 31, 1991.
He
was born Dec. 21, 1921, at Oakford to Edgar and Elizabeth Potter
Dowell. He married Lydia McMullen on May 2, 1942, in Bowling Green,
Mo. They had been married 50 years when she died Aug. 27, 1992. He
married Charlene Bradley Creager in Lincoln on April 23, 1994. She
survives.
Also
surviving are four children, Thomas Dowell and wife Sandy of
Delavan, Marjorie Wibben and husband Jim of Atlanta, Betty Spires
and husband Larry of Atwood and Daniel Dowell and wife Ellen of
Delavan; four stepchildren, Roger Creager and wife Connie of
Navarre, Fla., Debbie Creager of Lincoln, Myrna Carroll and husband
Pat of Lincoln and Rhoda Baldock and husband David of Navarre, Fla.;
eight grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter.
He
was also preceded in death by one sister, Erma Dowell, and a
stepson, Jim Creager Jr.
He
was a member of Lincoln Southern Baptist Church, where he had served
as a deacon and trustee for many years. He is described as a person
who "really loved the Lord and was very active in his
church." He was also active in the IBEW Union Local 193.
Memorials
may be made to his church or to hospice care.
