Doris Lowe

Doris A. Lowe, 66, of Mason City died at 8:28 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Doctor’s Hospital in Springfield.

Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, with the Rev. William Boyce officiating.

Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lowe retired from the Illinois Department of Public Aid after 23 years of service.

She was born July 29, 1935, in Mason City to Alonzo (Lonnie) K. and Ola May Henderson Furrer. She married Duane C. Lowe on Aug. 1, 1954 at the First Christian Church in Mason City. He survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Billy E. Lowe of Forest City, Robert D. Lowe of Springfield, Bruce A. (and Janis) Lowe of Mason City and Bradley R. (and Melissa) Lowe of Murrayville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Cecil (and Mary) Furrer of Springfield; and one sister, Lois Douglas of Lawndale.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary, all in Mason City. She was also a Cub Scout den mother for 17 years.

Memorials may be made to Lincoln Christian College.

William Miller

William Mark Miller, 78, formerly of Emden, died at the Christian Village in Lincoln at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001.

His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Jim Thomas officiating.

Burial, with military rites by Emden American Legion Post 506, will be in Bethel Cemetery, Emden.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Miller was a farmer and had been employed at the former Lehn & Fink in Lincoln before his retirement.

He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.

He was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Emden to William E. and Ella Markland Miller. He married Sylvia Ayoub. She died in 1972.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathryn Miller Drury of El Paso, and one grandson, Scott Drury of Washington, D.C.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Maria Miller Ewers.

He was a member of the Armington Christian Church and a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 506 of Emden.

Memorials may be made to the Christian Village of Lincoln or to Bethel Church.
