Christine Wilmert

Christine Wilmert, 91, of Lincoln died at 10:26 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service officiated by the Rev. Frank Pieper will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

There is no visitation.

Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mrs. Wilmert worked at Mount Pulaski Products and retired from State of Illinois Property Control.

She was born Feb. 20, 1910, in Lincoln to John and Mary Ellen Armstrong Awe. She married Allen F. Wilmert on March 17, 1932, in Decatur. He died June 7, 1989.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Louis Awe.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to her church or to Unity School of Christianity, 1901 NW Blue Parkway, Unity Village, Mo.

James DiToro

James Nicholas DiToro, 57, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Moline, died Saturday, Aug. 18, at James A. Haley Veterans Administration Hospital in Tampa.

His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at First Presbyterian Church in LeClaire, Iowa.

Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at DeRoo Funeral Home in Moline.

DiToro was a pastor of several Presbyterian and Christian churches. He had a bachelor’s degree in sacred literature and was in the process of completing a master of divinity degree at Lincoln Christian Seminary.

He served as a lance corporal in the U.S. Marines in Vietnam.

He was born Aug. 15, 1944, in Covington, Ky., to Nicholas and Mary Zechella DiToro.

Survivors include two daughters, Christa A. DiToro of Rock Island and Sarah E. Naugle of Lincoln; two sons, Anthony T. DiToro of Moline and Eric M. DiToro of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren; his mother, Mary DiToro of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Gloria Betsch of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dolly Rosfelder of Chester Springs, Pa.; and two brothers, his identical twin, Anthony DiToro of Carmel Lake, N.Y., and Nicholas DiToro of Valparaiso, Ind.

He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, father-in-law and a special friend of Kristi Bailey of LeClaire, Iowa.

Ruth Peters

Ruth Marie Peters, 79, of rural Mason City died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Normal.

Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, with the Rev. Randall Paine officiating.

Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Miss Peters was a high school teacher in Sullivan, Champaign and Chicago. She retired in 1986.

She was born Nov. 9, 1921, in Lincoln to Andrew and Mary Jane Gallagher Peters.

Surviving are two brothers, Warren Peters of Lincoln and Thomas Peters of Omaha, Neb., and one sister, Edith Ellen Warn of San Diego, Calif.

She was a member of Eastern Star of Progress Park, American Home Economics, American Association of University Women, and Logan and Mason County Retired Teachers Association.

She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Illinois.

Doris Lowe

Doris A. Lowe, 66, of Mason City died at 8:28 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Doctor’s Hospital in Springfield.

Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, with the Rev. William Boyce officiating.

Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lowe retired from the Illinois Department of Public Aid after 23 years of service.

She was born July 29, 1935, in Mason City to Alonzo (Lonnie) K. and Ola May Henderson Furrer. She married Duane C. Lowe on Aug. 1, 1954 at the First Christian Church in Mason City. He survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Billy E. Lowe of Forest City, Robert D. Lowe of Springfield, Bruce A. (and Janis) Lowe of Mason City and Bradley R. (and Melissa) Lowe of Murrayville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Cecil (and Mary) Furrer of Springfield; and one sister, Lois Douglas of Lawndale.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary, all in Mason City. She was also a Cub Scout den mother for 17 years.

Memorials may be made to Lincoln Christian College.
