Beverly
A. Mattson, 69, of Lincoln died at 6:52 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001,
at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Her
funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Holy
Family Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.
Burial
will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kerrigan Funeral Home in
Lincoln, with the rosary and wake service at 5 p.m.
Mrs.
Mattson was a housewife.
She
was born Oct. 23, 1932, in Mounds to E. Phil and Marjorie Austin
Hayden. She married Earl Mattson in Mound City on March 30, 1951.
Surviving
Mrs. Mattson are her husband, of Lincoln; four sons, Gary (and wife
Linda) Mattson of New Berlin, Michael (and Cindy) Mattson of
Lincoln, Jamie Mattson of Holly Hill, Fla., and Rob (and Pam)
Mattson of Lincoln; four daughters, Kathy (and husband Alan) Houser
of West Lafayette, Ind.; Carolyn (and Bob) Wallace of Lincoln, Lynda
Mattson of Lincoln and Lisa Mattson (and husband Scott Wolpert) of
Lincoln; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two
brothers, Lee Hayden of Lincoln and Keith Hayden of Springfield.
She
was a member of Holy Family Church of Lincoln and a former member of
the church choir.
Memorials
may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation or to Hospice of
Illinois, Springfield.
Dwight
Bailey
Dwight
Henry Bailey, 95, of Lincoln, formerly of Mount Pulaski and
Springfield, died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at St. Clara’s
Manor.
A
graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Mount
Pulaski Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home in Lincoln.
Bailey
worked as a draftsman at Allis-Chalmers in Springfield before his
retirement.
He
was born Aug. 4, 1906, in Nashua, Iowa, to James and Eva Myers
Bailey. He married Amelia Louise Klotz on June 23, 1929, in Mount
Pulaski. She died Jan. 20, 1999.
Surviving
are one son, James (and wife Vi) Bailey of Lincoln; three
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Fern Greenslate of Decatur.
He
was a member of the Church of Christ in Springfield and the
Astronomy Club of Springfield.

Charles
A. Bradley, 70, of San Jose died at 10:27 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001,
at his home.
His
funeral service will be at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Hurley
Funeral Home in San Jose, with the Rev. Marvin Lohrenz officiating.
Burial
will be in Springbay Cemetery, Springbay.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8:15 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Bradley
was safety manager at Washington Electric Co. before his retirement.
He
was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He
was born June 2, 1931, in Mason City to Chancy W. and Stella B.
Dabbs Bradley. He married Patricia A. Peavler on July 9, 1980. She
survives.
Also
surviving are two sons, Marty J. (and Jenny) Bradley of Springfield,
Mo., and Kim A. (and "Tony") Bradley of Mason City; two
stepsons, Bruce Hitch of Tampa, Fla., and Roy Hitch of Bloomington;
one daughter, Darla K. Bradley of Atlanta, Ga.; one stepdaughter,
Anne (and Jeff) Taylor of Clinton; and two grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas A.
Bradley.
He
was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of San Jose and the
American Legion of Springbay.

Dierker
Velma
V. Dierker, 91, of Lincoln died at 2:50 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001,
at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.
Her
funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Zion
Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan officiating.
Burial,
at 2:30 p.m., will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Havana.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home
and one hour before the service at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
She
was a seamstress and machine operator at Lincoln Garment Factory for
25 years.
She
was born April 26, 1910, at Manito to Charles and Clara Ahrens
Vogel. She married Herbert C. Dierker in Manito on Feb. 14, 1932. He
died Sept. 18, 1937.
Surviving
are one daughter, Alice (and husband Wilbur) Paulus of Lincoln; four
grandchildren, Becky (and Leland) Semple of Hartsburg, Randall
Paulus of Lincoln, Kent (and Lynn) Paulus of Lincoln and Lori (and
Rodney) Christensen of Chicago; and eight great-grandchildren.
She
was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
She
was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
Memorials
may be made to her church and to St. Clara’s Manor.
