Eula
M. Cotton, 98, of Atlanta died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13,
2001, at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.
Her
funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the Quiram
Funeral Home in Atlanta, with Andy Glass officiating.
Burial
will be in Atlanta Cemetery.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Mrs.
Cotton worked at the Kroger store in Atlanta until it closed. She
then worked at the Charles Few Grocery store and later Cotton’s
Corner Groceries. She retired in 1968 and went to work in the
grandparents program at the Lincoln Developmental Center for 19½
years.
She
was born Aug. 19, 1903, at Union City, Ky., to John and Edna Jones.
She married Snowden "Doc" Cotton on Jan. 21, 1921, at
Jellico, Tenn. He preceded her in death.
Surviving
are one daughter, Jane Deatrick of Atlanta; three sons, Donald
Cotton of Lincoln, Raymond Cotton of Rockaway Beach, Mo., and Loren
Cotton of Bloomington; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and
14 great-great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by one son, two daughters, one brother, four
sisters, one granddaughter, one great-grandson and one
great-great-granddaughter.
She
was a member of the Union City Baptist Church in Union City, Ky.
Memorial

Alberta
Otten McCray
Alberta
M. Otten McCray, 74, of Lincoln died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13,
2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Graveside
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at New Union
Cemetery, Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan officiating.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
Mrs.
McCray was a homemaker for her family.
She
was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Pekin to Willam A. Sr. and Alveretta
Varnholtz Otten. She married Van B. McCray on June 15, 1961.
Surviving
are one son, Joe Lahr of Pineville, Mo.; five grandchildren; and one
brother, Robert C. Otten of Mason City.
She
was preceded in death by one son, James A. Lahr; three brothers,
Jack L. Otten, Wm. M.A. Otten and Danial L. Otten; and four sisters
Juanita, Mary L. Groff, Peggy Jean Otten and Harriett Otten.
She
was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln and the VFW
Auxiliary.
