Carl ‘Turk’ Dawson

Carl E. "Turk" Dawson, 83, of rural Stanford, died at 4:40 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, rural McLean.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. David Venter officiating.

Burial will be in McLean Cemetery.

Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta, is in charge of arrangements.

Dawson farmed in the Stanford area from 1946 until he retired in 1983.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, rural McLean.

B. Fairby Brandt

B. Fairby Brandt, 92, of Armington died at 2:13 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at the McLean County Nursing Home, Normal.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, at the Armington Christian Church.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at the church.

Mrs. Brandt will be cremated following the service. Burial will be at Hieronymus Cemetery, rural Armington, at a later date.

Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brandt worked at Klemm’s Department Store and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bloomington.

She was a member of the Armington Christian Church, Taylor-Eckhardt American Legion Auxiliary Unit, Armington Women’s Club and Armington Library Board. She was a Tazewell County election judge for Hittle Township.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Robert Dial

Robert E. Dial, 68, of Lincoln died at 10:23 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

There will be no visitation or funeral services.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, is in charge of arrangements.

Dial was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was born Jan. 22, 1933, in Lincoln to Clarence E. and Bernice Boon Dial.

Surviving are one son, Gary Dial of Brentwood, Tenn.; two daughters, Robin Michelle Dial of Marietta, Ga., and Rorie Dial of Fayetteville, N.C.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Pricilla Jane Rawlings of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Myrtle Boyd

Myrtle Irene Boyd, 81, of Mount Pulaski died at 11:21 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the funeral home in Mount Pulaski, with Bill Shanle officiating.

Burial will be in Kline Cemetery, rural Broadwell.

Mrs. Boyd was a homemaker. She was employed by Pillsbury and CIPS in Springfield.

Walter Knollenberg

Walter Knollenberg, 78, of Lincoln died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at New Holland Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas P. Phillips officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Knollenberg was a retired farmer.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Holland.

He was a DeKalb seed corn dealer, New Holland road commissioner and a member of the school board. He was also a member of the New Holland American Legion.
