            Howen Mary
            Lou Howen, 74, of Lincoln died at 10:05 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2001,
            at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln. Her
            funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
            Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Larry Maffett officiating. Burial
            will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation
            will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs.
            Howen retired from medical records at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
            Hospital. She had also worked at Sears Roebuck in Lincoln. She
            was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Beason to William and Lelah Lovan McCance.
            She married Howard C. Howen on Dec. 27, 1942, in Junction City, Kan.
            He died Jan. 25, 1967. Surviving
            are one son, Larry Howen (and Marcia) of Lincoln; two daughters,
            Judith M. Sara (and John) of Bellbrook, Ohio, and Jann Denoncourt
            (and Michael) of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; one brother, Albert
            McCance of Griffith, Ind.; one sister, Dorothy Southerlan of
            Lincoln; and three grandsons, Scott Howen, Mickey Denoncourt and
            Matt Kumbalek. She
            also was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Helen
            Newby. She
            was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lincoln, Abraham
            Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, AARP and Lincoln VFW Auxiliary,
            of which she was a past president. Memorials

            Wilmert Mildred
            L. Wilmert, 88, of Litchfield, formerly of Lincoln died at 8:03 p.m.
            Friday, July 20, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. Following
            10 a.m. services on Monday, July 23, at St. Timothy United Methodist
            Church in Litchfield, there will be services at Holland and Barry
            Funeral Home in Lincoln at 1 p.m. The Rev. Tony Bell will officiate
            at both. Burial
            will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation
            at the funeral home in Lincoln will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Monday . She
            was born July 15, 1913, in Broadwell to George and Clemma Crayne
            Byrne. She married Donald Shay on Sept. 25, 1931. He died July 27,
            1979. She married Wilman Wilmert on April 24, 1981, in Litchfield.
            He died March 31, 1994. Surviving
            are two daughters, Donna Smith of Litchfield and Kay Marshall (and
            Lionel) of Mount Pulaski; two sisters, Geraldine Bergder of Michigan
            and Jeannie Stocksick of Indiana; and three grandchildren. She
            also was preceded in death by one daughter, Deanea Shay; five
            brothers, Doyne, Dean, Glen, Dale and Andrew Byrne; and one sister,
            Betty Ball. She
            was a member of First Christian Church and Women of the Moose, both
            in Lincoln. Memorials
            may be made to the Stanley L. Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund at
            Litchfield High School.

            Forastiere Jessie
            Lynch Forastiere, 92, of Pekin died at 1:52 a.m. Friday, July 20,
            2001, at her residence. Her
            funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Hurley Funeral
            Home in Mason City, with the Rev. Robert Paddack officiating. Burial
            will be in Mason City Cemetery. Visitation
            will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Mrs.
            Forastiere was a housewife. She
            was a veteran of the Army Nurse Corps, in which she was a second
            lieutenant. She
            was born March 5, 1909, in Oakford to Samuel C. and Margaret E.
            Cohee Lynch. She married Dr. Roger J. Forastiere on May 15, 1944, in
            Wichita Falls, Texas. He died in 1992. She
            is survived by two brothers, Donald A. Lynch of Long Prairie, Minn.,
            and Russell C. Lynch of Mason City; one sister, Shirley J. Hawks of
            Mason City; and several nieces and nephews. She
            also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. She
            was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Coco Plum Womans Club
            in Miami, Fla., and of the Doctors Auxiliary in Coral Gables, Fla. Memorial

            Mason City.

            Leever Lester
            Holton Leever, 83, of Beason died at 12:35 p.m. Saturday, July 21,
            2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. His
            funeral service will be at noon Monday, July 23, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
            Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Ray Hudson officiating. Burial
            will be in Harmony Cemetery, Beason. Visitation
            will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home in Lincoln. Leever
            was a professional truck driver for 50 years before his retirement. He
            was born Aug. 27, 1917, in Waynesville to Holton and Emma Meachum
            Leever. He married Thelma Donnan on Aug. 27, 1939, in Bowling Green,
            Mo. Surviving
            are his wife, of Beason; three sons, Robert Leever (and Judy) of
            Decatur, Dennis E. Leever (and Domenica) of Long Island, N.Y., and
            Rick Leever (and Cindy) of Hillsboro, Ore.; one daughter, Judith
            (and Larry) Medaris of Mount Pulaski; two brothers, Nelson W. Leever
            of Riverside, Calif., and Ted Leever of Lincoln; two sisters, Louise
            Adams of Atlanta and Marjorie Hickey of Decatur; 15 grandchildren;
            and 22 great-grandchildren. He
            was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He
            was a member of Beason United Methodist Church and a board member
            and trustee of the church. He was also a trustee of Beason Boy
            Scouts of America, a charter member of Beason Fire Department and a
            former member of the Beason Grade School board. Memorials

            ‘Junior’ Snyder Walter
            "Junior" Snyder, 76, of Sun City Center, Fla., formerly of
            New Holland, died at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2001, in Sun
            City Center. His
            funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
            Funeral Home in Lincoln. Burial,
            with military rites, will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery, New
            Holland. Visitation
            will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Snyder
            was a veteran of World War II. He
            was born Dec. 25, 1924, in Middletown to Walter and Mae Gilkerson
            Snyder Sr. He married Dorothy Franz in 1950 in Raton, N.M. He later
            married Shirley Matthews, in Colorado Springs, Colo., on June 18,
            1970. Surviving
            are his wife, Shirley, of Sun City Center, Fla.; his former wife,
            Dorothy Castle; four sons, Ted Snyder (and Dawn) of Spencerport,
            N.Y., Randy Snyder of Normal, Kipling Snyder (and Kitty) of Pekin
            and J.W. Snyder (and Elizabeth) of Bloomington; three daughters,
            Brenda Snyder of Princeville, Pam Schini of Morton and Pam Niekes of
            North Port, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Paula Hill (and Bill) of
            Deltona, Fla., and Beth Curtis of Deltona, Fla.; two brothers, Bud
            Snyder of New Holland and Ray Snyder (and Eileen) of Sunnyland; two
            sisters, Shirley Wright (and Paul) of Peoria and Dolores Newsum of
            Peoria; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He
            was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one son. He
            was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Peoria VFW and Peoria
            Masonic Lodge. Memorials
