William Chapman

William E. Chapman, 60, of Mount Pulaski died at 7:50 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at the First Christian Church of Mount Pulaski, with Marvin Flowers and Bill Shanle officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Chapman was a truck driver for Mount Pulaski Products.

He was born Oct. 9, 1940, in Mount Erie to George W. and Doris E. (Emmerling) Chapman.

Surviving are his father, of Mount Pulaski; three sons, Robert Chapman, Dennis (and Kelly) Chapman and Andrew Chapman, all of Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Laurie (and Doug) Craycraft of Greenview; two grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Chapman of Mount Pulaski; and one sister, Freda (and George) Gibbs of Cornland.

He was preceded in death by his mother and maternal and paternal grandparents.

He was a member of Lake Fork Christian Church.

Virgil ‘Red’ Langenbahn Jr.

Virgil K. "Red" Langenbahn Jr., 69, of Lincoln died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He donated his body to medical science. There will be no visitation or services.

Langenbahn retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass in 1989. He was a line worker.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He was born Oct. 10, 1931, in rural Lincoln to Virgil K. and Florence (Sarver) Langenbahn Sr. He married Margaret Tumilty Baker on May 28, 1977, in Lincoln.

She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Steven Baker of Lincoln; three daughters, Pamela Baker and Julie Rogers, both of Lincoln, and Lori (and Bill) Schaub of Hartsburg; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edna Strunk of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Walters and Ilene Janis.

His was a member of Eagles Lodge and American Legion Post 263.

Eugenia Ryals

Eugenia L. Ryals, 57, of Lincoln died at 5:11 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2001, at her home.

Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Emden.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mrs. Ryals worked at Lincoln Developmental Center as a Mental Health Technician III for 13 years.

She was born Dec. 30, 1943, in Lincoln to Robert G. and Wanda L. (Davis) Huffman. She was raised by Albert and Blossom Huffman, her grandparents. She married Russ Ryals on Oct. 16, 1998, in Lincoln. He survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Albert (and Maureen) James of Atlanta, Robert (and Emily) Burger of Lincoln, Scott Walters of Roanoke, Va., and David Dial of Texas; two daughters, Terri Lynn (and Jim) Cecil of Lincoln and Donna Blankenship of Alabama; one stepdaughter, Kristie (and Chris) Cox of Hominy, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and one sister, Marsha Doolin of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and one granddaughter, Sara.

She was a member of Holy Family Church of Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Illinois.

Mildred Alexander

Mildred Annette Alexander, 89, of Hartsburg died at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2001, at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.

Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28, at Hartsburg United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Doug Rettig officiating.

Burial will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mrs. Alexander and her husband owned and operated Alexander & Co. in Detroit, Mich.

She was born Dec. 25, 1911, in Hartsburg to Gustave and Mamie Oltmanns Zieglowsky. She married Campbell Alexander.

Surviving Mrs. Alexander are two nephews, Brian Conover of Rochester and James Zieglowsky of Superstition Mountain, Ariz., and two nieces, Patricia Behm of Hartsburg and Sharon Sanders of Jerusalem, Israel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and two sisters. She was the last of her immediate family.

She was a member of Hartsburg United Methodist Church.

She was a graduate of Brown’s Business College in Peoria.

Memorials may be made to Hartsburg United Methodist Church or Lincolnland Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Irene Ostrander

Irene Ruth (Schachtele) Ostrander, 73, of Lincoln died at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, June 24, 2001, at the Christian Village Nursing Home.

Cremation rites were accorded. There will be no services.

Interment of ashes will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln, at a later date.

Holland and Barry Funeral Home of Lincoln handled local arrangements.

She was a secretary at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev., before her retirement in 1989.

She was born Nov. 15, 1927, in Logan County to Fred and Barbara (Lind) Schachtele.

Surviving are two grandsons, Gary Voyles and Jason Voyles, both of Springfield; one great-granddaughter, Vanessa Voyles of Springfield; one great-grandson, Tyler Voyles of Springfield; one brother, Vernon Dean Schachtele of Lincoln; three nieces; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Lynn Voyles; two brothers, Fred Carl and John William Schachtele; and one sister, Phyllis Nichols.

She was of the Christian faith.

Memorials may be made to the Christian Village Nursing Home or Hospice Care of Illinois.
