Robert Mason

Robert V. Mason, 70, of Lincoln died at 2:25 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 2, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mason was self-employed with Mason & Son Contractors. From 1978 to 1992 he owned and operated the Old Milwaukee Tavern in Lincoln.

He was born Oct. 12, 1930, in Middletown to Andy and Lena (Sheneman) Mason. He married Georgann Proctor on Feb. 1, 1964, in Lincoln. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Todd R. Mason of Lincoln and Robert A. Rickord of Champaign; one daughter Lena S. Schleder (and husband John) of Hartsburg; four grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; four brothers, Frank Mason (and wife Helen) of Lincoln, Paul Mason (and wife Ellen) of Middletown, Nick Mason (and wife Wanda) of Sterling and Pat Mason (and wife Carol) of Pekin; four sisters, Betty Smith (and husband Bob) of Utica, Mich., Judy May (and husband Don) of Lincoln, Dorthea McElderry of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Carolyn Johnson of Bradford, Ark.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Rae Mason; one brother, Ed Mason; and three sisters, Hazel Peters, Ruth Killion and Helen Greco.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Memorials may be made to the V.N.A. Hospice Care of Illinois.


Linda Haney

Linda K. Haney, 33, of Middletown, died at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at her home.

Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Middletown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Henry Cox officiating.

Burial will be in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Middletown United Methodist Church.

Kerrigan Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Haney was a housewife.

She was born Nov. 27, 1967, in Springfield to Howard and Joanne (Banhart) Mallonee Sr. She married Anthony Haney on Sept. 25, 1997, in Springfield. He survives.

Also surviving are her father, of Athens; her mother, of Tulsa, Okla.; two sons, Dustin Schultz-Mallonee and Christian Haney, both of Middletown; one sister, Helen Mulkins of Springfield; and two brothers, Howard "Gene" Mallonee Jr. of Springfield and Joseph Mallonee of Tulsa, Okla.

She was a member of Middletown United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.



William Chapman

William E. Chapman, 60, of Mount Pulaski died at 7:50 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at the First Christian Church of Mount Pulaski, with Marvin Flowers and Bill Shanle officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Chapman was a truck driver for Mount Pulaski Products.

He was born Oct. 9, 1940, in Mount Erie to George W. and Doris E. (Emmerling) Chapman.

Surviving are his father, of Mount Pulaski; three sons, Robert Chapman, Dennis (and Kelly) Chapman and Andrew Chapman, all of Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Laurie (and Doug) Craycraft of Greenview; two grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Chapman of Mount Pulaski; and one sister, Freda (and George) Gibbs of Cornland.

He was preceded in death by his mother and maternal and paternal grandparents.

He was a member of Lake Fork Christian Church.

Edward Thompson

Edward L. Thompson, 61, of Lincoln died at 11:07 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

His funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the First United Methodist Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Larry Maffett and the Rev. Ray Hudson officiating.

Cremation will follow, and burial will be at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln, at a later date.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church.

Thompson retired from Caterpillar Tractor and Tire in East Peoria in 1994. He was an independent contractor in Lincoln after his retirement.

He was born Nov. 22, 1939, in Lincoln, to Thomas Edward and Eileen (Harbert) Thompson. He married Kay Johnson on July 19, 1958, in Shelbyville.

Surviving Thompson are his wife, of Lincoln; one son, Brian Edward (and Sarah) Thompson of Sacramento, Calif.; three daughters, Terrica (and Bruce) Buchholz of New Holland, Beth Thompson of Lincoln and Margie Martin of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Tom (and Bonnie) Thompson of Peoria and David (and Sue) Thompson of Lincoln; and one sister, Doris (and Roger) Oltmanns of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joann Heidbreder.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln, the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and the Moose Lodge of Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to his church or to the donor’s choice.

James Niemeyer

James H. Niemeyer, 80, of Centralia died at 1:29 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

Following cremation, private graveside services will be at Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

The Irvin Funeral Home of Centralia is in charge of arrangements.

Niemeyer had been supervisor at Southern Illinois Ice Company.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was born May 23, 1921, in Girard to Roy Edward and Ora Mae (Jennings) Niemeyer. He married Alberta Bacon on Dec. 18, 1939, in Lincoln. She died Oct. 6, 1999.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas Leroy Niemeyer (and wife Judy) of Crete and Jay Hal Niemeyer (and wife Johnana) of Alexandria, Ala.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mina Kelley of Montgomery, Ala., and Reba Niemeyer of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother, William Lep Niemeyer.

Since 1951 he was a member of First Methodist Church of Centralia, where he was an usher, Sunday School teacher and member of the Methodist Men’s Club. He was formerly a member of Kiwanis for over 20 years.

He lived in Lincoln before moving to Centralia in 1951.


Frank Mast

Frank H. Mast, 78, of Lincoln died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Christian Village Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Kerrigan Funeral Home, with Joe Eagle officiating.

There will be no visitation. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Mast was quality control supervisor at the former Lehn & Fink Co. He retired in 1985.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in the Army Signal Corps in the Pacific Theater.

He was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Quincy to Oscar and Clara (Terwelp) Mast. He married Delora Burk.

Surviving are his wife, Delora Mast, of Lincoln; two daughters, Karel Thompson of Montgomery and Charlotte Griffin of Lincoln; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, William Mast of Quincy.

Memorials may be made to Christian Village Nursing Home.
