Rosy
L. Drake, 92, of Monmouth, formerly of Elkhart, died at 10:15 p.m.
Friday, March 2, 2001, at her home.
Graveside
services, with the Rev. Beth Tickner officiating, will be at 1 p.m.
Thursday, March 8, at Elkhart Cemetery.
Mott
& Henning Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs.
Drake worked for the state of Illinois for 30 years.
She
was born May 20, 1908, in Pawnee to Edward and Ollie (Turner)
Germann. She married Kenneth Drake in Keokuk, Iowa, in November of
1961. He died Dec. 17, 1991.
She
was also preceded in death by her daughter, Rosella, and her
granddaughter, Janet.
Surviving
are a son-in-law, Wendell Stivers of Monmouth; a stepson, Charles
Drake of Chatham; one grandson; two great-grandsons; three
great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She
was a member of the Elkhart Methodist Church.
Memorials

Kenneth
Lee Babb, 90, of Mount Pulaski, formerly of Lexington, Ky., died at
6:13 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Memorial Medical Center.
A
graveside service, with Connie Rieger officiating, will be at 2 p.m.
Tuesday, March 6, at Macon County Memorial Park, the place of
burial.
Visitation
will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
Babb
was a retired U.S. Army Depot packaging inspector.
He
was born Sept. 11, 1910, at Clinton to Charles Lee and Mary Belle (Gaddy)
Babb. He married Imogene Strickland. She died in 1965. He married
Ruby Moore Mann in 1986.
Surviving
are his second wife, Ruby Babb of Lexington, Ky.; one daughter,
Barbara Lee (Charles) Aylesworth of Mount Pulaski; one son, Richard
"Charles" (Pauline) Babb of Richmond, Ky.; two
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and a half brother.
He
was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church of Lexington, Ky.,
and a 50-year member of the Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge 979 in
Decatur. He was in the Civil Service 31 years.
Memorials
may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski.

Norville
Alan Cordray, 77, of Hartsburg died at 4:27 p.m. Monday, March 5,
2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial,
with military rites, will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery, Hartsburg.
Visitation
will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Cordray
was a drill operator and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in
East Peoria in 1982. He worked for Caterpillar 31 years.
He
was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in New Guinea,
Luzon and the Philippines and was awarded the Philippine Liberation
Ribbon and one Bronze Star.
He
was born Feb. 11, 1924, in North Salem, Mo., to John and Elsie (Peavler)
Cordray. He married Bonnie L. Batye on July 17, 1953, in Chilicothe,
Mo.
Surviving
are his wife, of Hartsburg; two sons, Alan R. Cordray and Colby L.
(Janice) Cordray of Hartsburg; four daughters, Sandra B. Hall of
Decatur, Paula J. (Terry) Shaver of Bowling Green, Ky., Debra A.
(William) Gilmer of Hartsburg and Vicki L. (James) Adams of Emden;
16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Evelyn) Cordray and
Carl Cordray of Marceline, Mo.; and three sisters, Alma Deskins of
Brookfield, Mo., Ruby (Clelland) Hannah of Linneus, Mo., and Dorothy
(Arthur) Wilson of Minonk.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
He
was of the Christian faith.

Alma
"Jewell" Welty, 67, of Lincoln died at Memorial Medical
Center in Springfield on Friday, March 2, 2001.
Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Louis Compton officiating.
Burial
will be in Funks Grove Cemetery.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Ms.
Welty worked as a technician at Lincoln Developmental Center in
Lincoln before her retirement.
She
was born to James and Florence (Pitts) Stanley at Cave in Rock on
June 11, 1933.
She
is survived by three daughters, Sheila K. (Terry) Lessen, Judy
(Randy) Green and Jackie Welty, all of Lincoln; five grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ina Holland of Ridgeway.
She
was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
