Merry, 86, of Lincoln died at 10:53 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at
the Christian Village.
A
memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Tom Gerdts officiating.
Burial
will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service and immediately following the
service at the funeral home.
Merry
retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years, including seven
years as superintendent.
He
was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He
was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Lincoln, to Harry F. and Martha Menzel
Merry. He married Mildred A. Bear on Oct. 9, 1937, in Lincoln. She
died April 12, 1982. He married Eugenia Juhl in Literberry on Dec.
28, 1982. She survives.
Also
surviving are one son, Raymond W. Merry of Oakland Park, Fla.; one
daughter, Marcia Kay (and husband Calvin) Forman of Jacksonville;
one stepson, Gary (and Debra K.) Juhl of San Antonio, Texas; one
stepdaughter, Joyce (and Mike) Dunham of Golf Shores, Ala.; seven
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen
Bullington of Traverse City, Mich.
He
was also preceded in death by one brother and one granddaughter.
He
was a member of Lincoln Christian Church, the Men’s Club of the
church, American Legion Post 263, the American Legion Band and
Lincoln Kiwanis Club.
He
was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Lincoln College.

Neva
Crosier, 83, of Lincoln died at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001,
at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Her
funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Holland and
Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Tom Gerdts officiating.
Burial
will be in Lake Bank Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Crosier worked
at the state school in Lincoln for 22 years. She also worked at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital for several years.
She was born Jan. 28,
1918, in Lincoln to Joseph and Mittie Dodd Kingsley. She married
Eldon Crosier on Sept. 7, 1937, in Laconia, Ind. He died March 2,
1957.
Surviving
are one daughter, Janet Schuck of Washington; one son, Kenneth
Crosier of Latham; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and
two step-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Dolly Daugherty of
Lincoln, Elsie Johnson of Laconia, Ind., and Leila Shields of New
Salisbury, Ind.
She
was also preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Richardson; five
brothers, Charles Kingsley, Walter Kingsley, Frank Kingsley, Sidney
Kingsley and an infant brother; and two sisters Nellie Anderson and
Dorothy.
She
was a member of Lincoln Christian Church and Royal Neighbors of
America. She did volunteer work at nursing homes, including the
Christian Village in Lincoln. She also did quilting and made afghans
for the Harvest of Talents.

Skelton, 59, of Lincoln died at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001,
at his home.
His

Burial
will be in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.

Skelton
was a line worker at Pittsburg Plate Glass Co. in Lincoln before his
retirement.
He
was born May 21, 1942, in Middletown to George Glenn and Minnie
Simpson Skelton. He married Ruby Benedict in Burlington, Iowa, on
July 15, 1959.
Surviving
are his wife, of Lincoln; two daughters, Bonnie Marie (and Corbutt)
Barcroft of Lincoln and Carla (and Tracy) Mattingly of Lincoln;
three sons, Donald (and Paula) Skelton of Gillispie, Michael (and
Kelly) Skelton of Lincoln and Tony (and Mindy) Skelton of Lincoln;
17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nonie
Loveless of Wynona, Minn., and Rosie Cain of Lebon, Ky.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one son,
Thomas Skelton.
He
was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.
He
was an avid deer hunter and a member of the Abate motorcycle club.

Leona Turner, 89, of Lincoln

Mrs. Turner was a homemaker. She
was born Jan. 12, 1912, in Lincoln to Richard and Bertha Buchholz
Gandt. She married Edward M. Turner on Oct. 22, 1933, in Lincoln. He
died April 24, 1992. Surviving
are one son, Raymond E. (and wife Carol) Turner of Lincoln; two
daughters, Edna M. (and Wayne) Mara and Donna J. (and Randy) Buse,
all of Lincoln; seven grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren;
three great-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren; and one
sister, Florence Gandt of Lincoln. Mrs.
Turner was also preceded in death by one daughter, two sisters, one
brother and two step-great-grandsons. She
was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and a charter
member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Memorials

Lyn Lamb, 46, of Lincoln died in an auto accident at Buffalo on

Lamb was a registered nurse at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

was born July 2, 1955, in Baton Rouge, La. She married Rickey L.
Lamb on June 1, 1975, in Lincoln. He survives.

surviving are her father, E.E. Carrell of Overland Park, Kan.; her
mother, Ann Maybin McGee of Panama City Beach, Fla.; her stepfather,
Brad McGee of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two sons, Peter and Lucas Lamb, both
of Lincoln; three daughters, Charissa Lamb, Kira Perez and Kelsey
Lamb, all of Lincoln; one grandson, Mateo Perez; four brothers, Mike
McGee of Dexter, Mich., Brian McGee of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Ray and
John Carrell, both of Kansas City, Kan.; and one sister, Fran
Thompson of Overland Park, Kan.
She
was a member of Holy Resurrection Church in Lincoln.
She
graduated from Lincoln Christian College, Lincoln College and St.
John’s School of Nursing and received her bachelor of science
degree in nursing.

Mrs.
Mallekoote was a Technician III at Lincoln Developmental Center for
11 years.
She
was born Sept. 27, 1951, in West Branch, Mich. She married Neil R.
Mallekoote in Flint, Mich., on July 22, 1972.
Surviving
Mrs. Mallekoote are her husband, of Lincoln; two daughters, Nena
Faye Mallekoote of Urbana and Nadra (and husband Shad) Bell of
Merrimack, N.H.; four brothers, Ricky Stark of Standish, Mich.,
Patrick Stark of Beebe, Ark., Kenneth Jones of Baraga, Mich., and
Garret Jones of Westlake, Ohio; and two sisters, Kathleen Luck of
Flint, Mich., and Elizabeth Jones of AuGres, Mich.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Franklin Stark and Betty
Ricketts Jones.
She
was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Lincoln.
