Schaffenacker, 94, of Mount Pulaski, died at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 3, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
His
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Zion Lutheran Church
in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Paul Droegemueller officiating.
Burial
will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Schaffenacker
was a retired farmer.
He
was born April 22, 1907, in rural Chestnut to Eduard and Lucy Benz
Schaffenacker. He married Helen Dammerman on Jan. 1, 1934, in Mount
Pulaski. She died Jan. 20, 1999.
Surviving
are one son, Eddie (and wife Sue) Schaffenacker of Mount Pulaski;
one daughter, Lois Stahl of Mount Pulaski; five grandchildren,
Cheryl Martin of Mount Pulaski, Cathy Porter of Leawood, Kan., Doug
Stahl of Denver, Colo., Susan Schueler of Glen Carbon and Scott
Schaffenacker of Natchitoches, La.; and five great-grandchildren.
He
was also preceded in death by one brother, Byron.
He
was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Mount Pulaski.

Barbara
Newman, 65, of Lincoln died at 5:27 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at
St. John's Hospice North in Springfield.
Her
funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Holland and
Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln.
Burial
will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs.
Newman was an office associate at Lincoln Developmental Center for
35 years. She retired Aug. 1.
She
was born July 5, 1936, in Oakland, Calif., to Cecil and Myrtle
Myers. She married Max E. Newman on Oct. 24, 1969, in Lincoln. He
survives.
Also
surviving are her mother, of Auburn, Wash.; two sons, Harvey (and
wife Tana) Lane of Gurley, Ala., and Bill Lane of Florida; two
stepsons, Max E. Newman Jr. of North Dartmouth, Mass., and Mark E.
Newman of Fairhaven, Mass.; seven grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (and Jeanette) Myers of
Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Ron (and Fran) Myers of Puyallup, Wash.;
and several nieces and nephews.
She
was a member of Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles and American
Legion Auxiliary. She attended Jefferson Street Christian Church.

Ira
Sylvester Pyles, 69, of Lincoln died at 10:17 a.m. Wednesday, Oct.
3, 2001, at his home.
His
funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial
will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pyles
was formerly employed at U.S. Corrugated Box Co. and at Lehn and
Fink.
He
was born June 19, 1932, in Louisville to Lawrence and Minnie Pyles.
Surviving
are three sons, Larry Daniels of Lawndale, Roger Dale Pyles of
Ellisville, Miss., and Richard Wayne Pyles of Hammond, Ind.; two
daughters, Brenda Freeman of McComb, Miss., and Sherrie Evans of
Pekin; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother,
Bruce Simpson of Lincoln.
He
was preceded in death by his parents.
He
played in a several bands throughout Logan County for many years.

Helen
Marie Leinweber, 86, of Mason City died at 11:07 a.m. Tuesday, Oct.
2, 2001, at her home.
Her
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Christ Lutheran Church
in Mason City, with the Rev. Robert Martinek officiating.
Burial
will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Hurley Funeral Home in
Mason City.
Mrs.
Leinweber farmed with her husband for many years in Mason County.
She later worked for Dr. Henry Maxfield in Mason City and for the
state of Illinois. She also owned and operated Mason City Implement
with her husband.
She
was born May 22, 1915, in Mason City to George William and Cora
McDaniel Shawgo. She married George E. Leinweber on May 9, 1936, in
Farmer City. He died Sept. 28, 1964.
Surviving
are two daughters, Dolores (and husband James) Curry of Mason City
and Janet (and John) Cunningham of Mason City; six grandchildren;
and 13 great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by one brother.
She
was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City and of the
Mason County Home Education Association.
