Joseph Morrow

Joseph "Joe" Morrow, 77, of Lincoln died at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at his home.

His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with Monsignor Edward Higgins officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. A prayer service will be at 4 p.m.

Morrow owned and operated Joe’s Auto Air and Sound for 28 years.

He served in the U.S. Army Airforce 475th Fighter Group.

He was born Aug. 4, 1924, in Lincoln to Ernest and Lula Dugan Morrow. He married Dorothy Przykopanski in June 1946 in Lincoln. She survives.

Also surviving are nephews David Morrow of Lincoln and Dennis Morrow of Bloomington and niece Linda Gephart of Lincoln, who were raised by Joe and Dorothy Morrow; many other nieces and nephews; and three sisters, Eleanor Huffman and Shirley (and husband Stan) Bruketa of Lincoln and Norma Monrose of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln, American Legion Post 263, VFW, DAV, 40 N 8, AMVETS, Knights of Columbus (fourth degree) and Lincoln Elks Lodge.

Mary Struening

Mary Struening, 72, of Lincoln died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at her daughter's home in Marietta, Ohio.

Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Tom Gerdts will officiate.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Struening was a retired realtor. She had worked for Doris & Associates.

She was born May 18, 1929, in Bloomington to George Lowell and Sylvia Agnes Duncan Exton. She married Donald D. Struening on Sept. 4, 1970, in Lincoln. He died Aug. 9, 2000.

Surviving are one son, David G. (and wife Patty) Struening of Loda; three daughters, Sonya Gravatt of Peoria, Cheryl (and Mark) Mattes of Marietta, Ohio, and Valerie (and Robert Jr.) Coombs of Lincoln; and six grandchildren, Nathaniel Struening of Decatur, Jesse Gravatt of Peoria, Brandon and Sean Mattes, both of Marietta, Ohio, and Tara and Angela Coombs, both of Lincoln.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. She was the last of her immediate family.

She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.

Eleanore Perry

Eleanore McCarthy Perry, 82, of Lincoln died at 9:40 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2001.

Her funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln. The rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.

She was born Feb. 3, 1919, in Springfield to Dr. David H. and Ella Giblin McCarthy Sr. She married Dr. Robert Brown Perry on Feb. 24, 1949, in Lincoln. He died April 8, 1998.

Surviving Mrs. Perry are one brother, Dr. Edmund McCarthy (and Cele) of Danville; one sister, Helene Harbaugh (John B.) of Kokomo, Ind.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Frances Finnigan McFall (J. Gregory Sr.) of Springfield and Margaret Anne Cook (Jack D.) of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and three brothers, Cornelius J. and Jerome T. McCarthy of Springfield and David H. McCarthy Jr. of Evanston.

A graduate of Blessed Sacrament Grade School, Springfield High School and Springfield College in Illinois, she worked for the Springfield Housing Authority before her marriage.

Residing in Lincoln after her marriage, she was active in local charities and civic organizations, including Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation, St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln College and St. John’s Hospital.

Mrs. Perry was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Friday Book Club and Elks Club, all of Lincoln. She was also a member of the Sangamo Club, the Island Bay Yacht Club and a sustaining member of the Junior League, all of Springfield.

Memorials may be made to the Dr. Wayne J. Schall Hospice or the Perry Center of the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation.


Robert Lee Sr.

Robert E. Lee Sr., 76, of Lincoln died at 9:36 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lee retired in 1987 from Tom Ashley Ford-Lincoln-Mercury, where he had worked as a mechanic.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Lincoln to William and Pansy Pearl McCray Lee. He married Lucille Petro on Oct 2, 1980, in Lincoln. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Gary (and wife Kay) Constant of Lake Fork, Rob (and Debby) Lee of Middletown, Rick (and Lisa) Lee of Lincoln and Mike Lee of Lincoln; four daughters, Connie (and John) Buckner of Lake Fork, Debby (and Scott) Gray of Lincoln, Kathy (and Larry) Taylor of Dareville, Ky., and Ronele (and Lyle) Benedict of Lincoln; one stepson, Gary Petro of Lincoln; four stepdaughters, Rose (and Val) Moore, Nancy Lahr, Debby (and Glen) McKay, all of Lincoln, and Michelle (and Byron) Welt of Springfield; 14 grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Lee of Lincoln; and four sisters, Hazel Hickey, Loretta Buchholz and Leona Sherrer of Lincoln, and Marilyn Lolling of Hartsburg.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln and the Lincoln VFW.
