Ina
Pickett, 96, of Mason City died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2001,
at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.
Her
funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Hurley
Funeral Home in Mason City, with the Rev. Bruce Bolin Ghitalla
officiating.
Burial
will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service at Hurley Funeral Home.
Mrs.
Pickett was a retired schoolteacher.
She
was born May 25, 1905, at Edmonton, Ky., to Creed and Mindy Shaw
Garrett. She married Elmore Pickett on March 7, 1926. He died in
July 1974.
Surviving
are one daughter, Susanna Schussele of Mason City; two
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five
great-great-grandchildren.
She
was also preceded in death by one daughter, two sisters and seven
brothers.
Mrs.
Pickett was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mason City.

Olive
Mae Goodman, 81, of Mount Pulaski died at 2:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3,
2001, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Her
funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Carol Andricks
officiating.
Burial
will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Mount
Pulaski.
Mrs.
Goodman was a retired beautician. She worked at Margie’s Hair Shop
for 25 years.
She
was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Chinook, Mont., to Thomas Clarence and
Sadie Bruin Pope. She married Carl Goodman in Mount Pulaski on March
28, 1936. He died April 26, 1981.
Surviving
are six daughters, Alice (and husband Herman) Geriets of Lincoln,
Violet Beck of Atlanta, Esther (and Robert) Gill of Lincoln, Linda
Goodman of Lincoln, Marjorie (and Thomas) Polk Jr. of Mount Pulaski
and Susan (and Otto) Roberts of Lincoln; five sons, Carl (and wife
Joyce) Goodman Jr. of Higginsville, Mo., Gerald (and Gloria) Goodman
of Mount Pulaski, Dr. Donald (and Leslie) Goodman of Ironton, Mo.,
Dennis (and Sandy) Goodman of Bement and Robert Goodman of Lincoln;
29 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 12
great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joy (and Robert) Weller
of Springfield.
She
was also preceded in death by one daughter; two brothers, Ray and
Roland; three sisters, Dorothy, Iva and Gwendolyn; and four
grandchildren.
She
was a member of Mount Pulaski First United Methodist Church and the
Naomi Circle of the church. She was also a member of Knot of this
World Quilters.

Vera
M. Rabbe, 87, of Mason City died at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001,
at Mason City Area Nursing Home.
Her
funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Christ
Lutheran Church of Mason City, with the Rev. Robert Martinek
officiating.
Burial
will be in Mason City Cemetery.
There
is no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Hurley Funeral
Home in Mason City.
Mrs.
Rabbe taught kindergarten for 12 years at Christ Lutheran Church in
Mason City. She also taught in the New Holland-Middletown district
and in many country schools.
She
was born Sept. 23, 1913, at San Jose to Jacob and Anna Jacob Imig.
She married William Rabbe on May 19, 1935, in San Jose. He died Feb.
26, 1999.
Surviving
are one son, Mike (and wife Holly) Rabbe of Normal; two daughters,
Janis Robertson of Mason City and Carole (and husband Harry)
Fletcher of Normal; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;
five brothers, Henry Imig, Walter Imig and Floyd Imig of San Jose,
Paul Imig of Texas and Duane Imig of Florida; and one sister,
Florence Behrends of Easton.
She
was also preceded in death by a grandson.
She
was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and of the Dorcas
organization.

Marilyn
J. Buelter, 66, of Lincoln died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4,
2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Her
funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln. Glenn Buelter and the Rev. Oscar Owens will
officiate.
Burial
will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs.
Buelter was co-owner and operator of Lincoln Furniture and Floor
Covering in Lincoln.
She
was born July 27, 1935, in Lincoln to Hobart L. and Mary L.
Peddicord Rose. She married Glenn Buelter in Lincoln on Sept. 2,
1965. He survives.
Also
surviving are three sons, William H. (and wife Taffy) De Jarnette of
St. Joseph, Dr. Benjamin Seth Buelter of Peoria and Joseph Daniel
(and Rosanna) Buelter of Providence, R.I.; three daughters, Joy A.
LeMay of Sadieville, Ky., Linda (and Dr. Jack) Taylor of Kansas
City, Mo.; and Sharon Williams of Arlington, Texas; and eight
grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her parents.
She
was a member of First Baptist Church of Lincoln; past president of
Zonta Club, Lincoln Woman’s Club, Antique Club and Emblem Club; a
chamber of commerce ambassador; a Main Street Lincoln member; and
was a Business Woman of the Year. For many years she was "Mrs.
Santa Claus." She founded Arcade Coffee Girls. She was also a
member of the Lincoln zoning board and the National Retail Furniture
Association.

Lorene
Jackson Blair, 77, of Mason City died at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3,
2001, at Mason City Area Nursing Home.
Cremation
rites will be accorded and burial of ashes will be in Mason City
Cemetery. A graveside service, officiated by the Rev. Randall Paine,
will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at the cemetery.
There
is no visitation. Cain-Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in
charge of arrangements.
Mrs.
Blair was a homemaker.
She
was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Wyanet to Harry and Bertha Thompson
Jackson. She married Dean Blair on Dec. 3, 1948, at the First
Methodist Church in Peoria. He preceded her in death.
Surviving
are three brothers, Harry Jackson of Mason City, Willard Jackson of
East Peoria and Robert Jackson of Canoga Park, Calif.; one sister,
Marie Stapleton of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.
She
was baptized at Washington Evangelical Church, and her
denominational preference was Presbyterian.
