John
L. Prince, 61, of Lincoln died at 7:22 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2002,
at his home.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 8, at Holland and Barry
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His
funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holland and Barry, with the
Rev. Don Hoover officiating.
Burial,
with military rites, will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
He
was a correctional officer with the Department of Corrections.
He
served in the U.S. Army in the early 1960s.
He
was born March 23, 1941, in Springerton to Robert M. and Jaunita
Hagood Prince. He married Betty L. Curry on May 16, 1961, in
Lincoln. She survives.
Other
survivors are five sons, John Prince Jr. (and Jeanie) of Chatham,
Mark D. Prince (and Denise) of Carterville, Bobby J. Prince (and
Elizabeth) of Lincoln, Michael R. Prince of Lincoln and Roger L.
Prince of St. Louis; one daughter, Beth A. Prince of Lincoln; 14
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Dwaine Kennett
of Lincoln; and two sisters, Betty J. Pflug of Springfield and
Shirley Swilley of Arizona.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Ezekiel
Kennett; and one brother, Carroll Kennett Sr.
He
was a member of the American Legion in Lincoln, to which memorials
may be made.

Michael
Hal McCain, 54, of Lincoln died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2002,
at his home.
He
will be cremated.
A
celebration of life will be held later for family and friends.
There
will be no services. Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln is in
charge of arrangements.
Mike
had several careers, but the one he was proudest of and enjoyed the
most was as a contract mainframe computer programmer for CIBER,
Inc., Springfield.
He
was born Jan. 8, 1948, in Bloomington to Homer H. "Mike"
and Bernice Kahle McCain. He married Barbara Klemstine on Oct. 6,
1973, in Roselle. She survives, in Lincoln.
Other
survivors are three brothers, Jeffrey (and Vicki) McCain of
Bloomington, Lynn McCain of Bloomington, Mark (and Brenda) McCain of
Normal; four sisters, Rose Ann Olson of Carlock, Susan (and Arlen)
Sieg of Shirley, Betty McCain of Normal and Marsha (and Rick) Beard
of Shirley; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He
was a 1966 graduate of Normal Community High School, and in 1970 he
graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree
in agriculture. He received his Certificate of Achievement in
Foundation Computing Technologies (COBOL) from ISU InfoTech in 1999.
