Mabel Sillman
Mabel I. Sillman, 90,
of Lincoln died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at Pekin Manor
in Pekin.
A graveside service
will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
There will be no
visitation.
Miss Sillman had
worked for the Department of Public Health in Springfield.
She was born April
25, 1912, in Burr, Neb., to Mr. and Mrs. William Sillman.
Survivors are one
niece, Lois (and Roy) McQuern of Springfield, and two nephews,
Charles and Gary Flamini, both of Springfield.
She was preceded in
death by two brothers and two sisters. She was the last of her
immediate family.
She was a member of
the Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s

Phyllis McShane
Phyllis Noonan
McShane, 75, of Lincoln died at 2:35 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002,
at her home.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
Her funeral will be
at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Church in Lincoln. Father Thomas
Taylor, Father Patrick De Meulemeester and Father Edward Higgins
will officiate.
Burial will be in St.
Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. McShane was a
bookkeeper for Feldman’s Gift Shop, secretary for Buckles Realty and
secretary for the foster grandparents program at Lincoln
Developmental Center.
She was born Jan. 27,
1927, in Lincoln to Roger F. and Gertrude Feldman Noonan. She
married Robert McShane on May 30, 1949, in Lincoln. He survives.
Family members are
five sons, Mark (and Karen) McShane of Kalamazoo, Mich., Pat (and
Annette) McShane of Batesville, Ark., Jim (and Gail) McShane of
Lincoln, John (and Diane) McShane of South Bend, Ind., and Matt (and
Susan) McShane of Batesville, Ark.; two daughters, Marta (and Roger)
McCall of Memphis, Tenn., and Ann (and Jim) Olson of Broadwell; and
20 grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by one sister, Colleen Moran.
She was a member of
Holy Family Church, Holy Family Society and Knights of Columbus
Auxiliary.
Memorials may be made to Carroll Catholic
School in Lincoln.

Helen Post
Helen I. Post, 92, of
Lincoln died at 3:11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at her home.
Visitation will be
from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. John United Church of Christ in
Lincoln.
Her funeral will be
at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald
officiating.
Burial will be in New
Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
She had been a
telephone operator in New Holland, farm wife and homemaker for her
family.
She was born May 24,
1910, at Middletown to Fred and Isabel (Boyer) Boyer. She married
Henry F. Post Sr. on March 7, 1929, in Lincoln. He died March 12,
1946.
Surviving are two
sons, Henry F. Post Jr. and William H. Post, both of Lincoln; one
daughter, Helen Beccue of Sherman; five grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister,
Mina Sampson of Lincoln.
She was also preceded
in death by one daughter, Donna Roschnafsky; one stepson, Ernest W.
Post; two brothers, Homer and Harold Boyer; and one sister, Rosa
McGrew.
She was a member of
St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln and the Charity Guild of
the church. She also taught Sunday School for many years and served
her church as a choir member. She had sung at funerals from age 16
into her 70s. She was a former member of the Cumberland Presbyterian
Women.
She was a graduate of
Middletown High School.
Memorials may be made to St. John United
Church of Christ in Lincoln.
Grant ‘Bud’ Shoemaker
Grant "Bud" Hersheld
Shoemaker, 88, died at 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Livingston
Manor, Pontiac.
His funeral will be
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Duffy Funeral Home, 202 E. Howard, Pontiac.
Pastor Kenneth O’Neal will officiate. Visitation will be one hour
before the service.
Burial will be at
Walnut Hill, Williamsville.
He was a farmer and a
U.S. Army veteran.
He was born Aug. 21,
1913, in Bogota to John and Della Johnson Shoemaker. He married Ruth
Showalter on Dec. 10, 1947, in Bloomington. She died Feb. 12, 1996.
Survivors are two
stepsons, Dean Constant of Lincoln and Howard Constant of
Springfield; numerous stepgrandchildren and
step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.G. "Bill" Shoemaker of
Lincoln and W.T. "Jake" Shoemaker of Flanagan; and one sister,
Genelle Ingram of Urbana.
He was also preceded
in death by one brother and four sisters.
He was a member of
the VFW and the American Legion.
He was honorably
discharged from the Army with one service stripe, three overseas
service bars, American Campaign Medal and a European African Middle
Eastern Ribbon W/4.
He attended Jasper
County schools.
Memorials may be made to the Saunemin
Fire Department or to Livingston Manor Nursing Home, 14335 U.S.
Highway 66, Pontiac.

Raymond Galbraith
Raymond Galbraith,
71, of Chestnut died at 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at his home.
A memorial service
will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Richard Stamm officiating.
There will be no
visitation.
Burial will be at a
later date.
Galbraith worked as a
forklift operator at Wagner’s Casting in Decatur.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean War.
He was born July 8,
1931, in Nokomis to Luther and Ruth Mansfield Galbraith. He married
Marie Bennett in Taylorville on Feb. 6, 1954.
Family members are
three daughters, Loretta Franceschini of Clinton, Vicky Moore of
Clinton and Linda Bailey of Chestnut; one son, John Galbraith of
Mount Pulaski; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two
sisters, Jerry Lesko of Pana and Leola Miller of California.
He was preceded in
death by two brothers and one sister.
He was a member of
Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut.
Memorials may be made to the American
Cancer Society.

Naugle
June Naugle, 75, of
Lawndale died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at St. Clara’s
Manor in Lincoln.
She was cremated.
There will be a
graveside service at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Zion Cemetery,
Lincoln, with the Rev. Robert Henderson officiating.
Mrs. Naugle was an
account technician at the state school in Lincoln before she retired
in 1989.
She was born Feb. 26,
1927, in Memphis, Tenn., to Harold and Gladys Dickerson Cook. She
married Lloyd Alexander in 1951. She later married Meryl "Oli"
Olinger, in 1966, and he died in 1968. She then married Glen E.
"Scoop" Naugle on March 17, 1971, in Lincoln. He died Aug. 5, 1992.
Survivors are one
daughter, Cheryl Wagner of Graham, Wash.; five grandchildren, John
Montgomery of Lincoln, Kelly Trengove of Marietta, Ga., Jason Clark
and Tony Clark of Acworth, Ga., and Quinn Naugle of Springfield;
three great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Cook of Lompoc, Calif.;
and one sister, Shirley Tiffany of Winter Haven, Fla.
She was also preceded
in death by one brother, William Cook, and one sister, Lela Wells.
She was of the
Protestant faith.
She enjoyed raising
parrots, throwing darts and playing video poker machines.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of
Illinois.

Henry Aldag
Henry "Hank" Aldag,
95, a Chatham resident since 1978, died at 2:25 p.m. Friday, Aug.
16, 2002, at Lynncrest Manor in Auburn.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 201
S. Grand, Route 4, Chatham, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at St.
John’s Lutheran Church, 1225 N. Main, Chatham.
His funeral will be
at 10 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Glenn Strohschein
officiating.
Burial will be in
Chatham Cemetery.
Aldag was a farmer in
the New Holland area most of his life and raised Hereford cattle. He
retired in 1979. He was also a self-employed carpenter.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II.
He was born Nov. 27,
1906, in New Holland to John and Margaret Koester Aldag. He married
Henrietta Sprinkel in 1978, and she survives.
Other survivors are
two daughters, Barbara (and Donald) Semple of New Holland and Sharon
McCullough of Lincoln; a stepdaughter, Bonnie (and Donald) Ladage of
Chatham; a stepson, Conrad (and Joyce) Garlo of Ormond Beach, Fla.;
10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in
death by his first wife, Catherine Allison Aldag; one brother, John
Aldag; and three sisters, Rebecca Aper, Elizabeth Ulferts and
Margaret Klockenga.
He was in Algiers,
Africa, for 34 of his 39 months of military service and advanced to
the rank of tank sergeant. He also worked in Gen. Eisenhower’s
office. He received a plaque for being a member of the "Best Signal
Corps Company" in the U.S. Army and always went above and beyond the
call of duty.

Willis Roeder
A memorial service
for Willis L. Roeder will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Lincoln
Eagles Lodge 2708, 1621 N. Kickapoo St. in Lincoln. A luncheon at
the lodge will immediately follow the service.
Roeder, 70, died July
29, 2002, at 5:30 p.m. at his home in Lakeland, Fla.
He was a custodian at
Lincoln Community High School before he retired.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was born Sept. 2,
1931, in Cressona, Pa., to John and Mary Kramer Roeder. He married
Shirley L. Brown on Dec. 11, 1954, in Mount Vernon.
Survivors are his
wife, of Lakeland, Fla.; one daughter, Brenda Booth of Dana; three
sons, Willis Roeder Jr. of Morton, Donald Roeder of Morton and Terry
Roeder of Lincoln; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two
sisters, Mary Fox of Summit Station, Pa., and Shirley Umbenhauer of
Schuylkill Haven, Pa.; and one brother, John Roeder of Schuylkill
Haven, Pa.
He was preceded in
death by two brothers and one sister.
He was a member of
American Legion Post 263, Eagles Lodge 2708 and Moose Lodge 1441.
