Kathleen Dorothy
Engle, 82, died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at the
Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Visitation will be
from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
Her funeral will be
at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holland and Barry, with the Rev. Jame Haas
officiating.
Burial will be in New
Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Engle retired
after 25 years as a medical records librarian at Lincoln
Developmental Center. She was previously employed by Stetson's China
factory and Heimbrecker Florist, both of Lincoln.
She was born Sept.
23, 1920, in Middletown to William and Flossie Warren. She married
Paul Engle on March 12, 1938, at Kahoka, Mo. He died May 16, 1998.
Surviving are one
son, Larry L. (and wife Norma) Engle of Lincoln; one daughter,
Dottie K. (and husband Bud) Huffaker of Chatham; daughter-in-law
Sandi Engle of Princeville; eight grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Frank
Warren of Springfield; and one sister, Marie Williams of
Bloomington.
She was also preceded
in death by one son, Paul "Punky" Engle; one granddaughter, Tara
Engle; and two brothers, Vernon and William Warren.
She was a member of
the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln, DAR and the board of
the Pleasant Valley Cemetery Association.
She was a graduate of
Mason City High School.
Memorials may be made to American
Diabetes Association, Hospice Care of Illinois and the American
Heart Association.
Lavertia Randl
Lavertia Randl, 87,
of Lincoln died at 7:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be
from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
Her funeral will be
at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with the Rev. John
Horner officiating.
Burial will be in
Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Randl was a
homemaker.
She was born May 16,
1915, at Walnut Ridge, Ark., to W.J. and Maggie Stevenson Sanderfer.
She married Truman R. Randl on Jan. 14, 1932, in Senath, Mo. He died
Dec. 23, 1998.
Surviving are two
sons, William (and Dorothy) Randl of Bloomington and Larry (and Geni)
Randl of Champaign; three daughters, Margaret Bennett of Canton,
Joyce (and Kenneth) Crowell of Lincoln and Carolyn (and Gary)
Danison of Marion; 34 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; seven
great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Delano Sanderfer of
Campbell, Mo.; and two sisters, Zula (and Lyndell) Holstin of
Holcomb, Mo., and Jean (and Odell) Karnes of Campbell, Mo.
She was also preceded
in death by an infant sister.
She was a member of
Liberty Baptist Church in Minier.

Raymond Park
Raymond E. Park, 84,
of Atlanta died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at BroMenn
Regional Medical Center in Normal.
His funeral will be
at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the Atlanta Christian Church, with
David Harmon officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the
service.
Burial will be in
Atlanta Cemetery.
Quiram Funeral Home,
Atlanta, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Park was a
lifelong farmer in the Funks Grove and Atlanta area.
He was born Aug. 31,
1918, in Mattoon to Everett and Leva Naugle Park. He married Ivol
Irene Young in Atlanta on Oct. 12, 1940. She survives.
Also surviving are
one daughter, Janella Park of Atlanta, and one brother, Robert Park
of Bloomington.
He was preceded in
death by one sister, Hilma Yates.
He was a member of
the Atlanta Christian Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
church.

Hugh Knochel
Hugh M. Knochel, 79,
of Lincoln died at 8:55 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be
from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home in Lincoln. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m.
His funeral will be
at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln,
with Monsignor Edward Higgins and Father James Cravens officiating.
Mr. Knochel was a
retired farm manager.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Russell Coburn
Russell L. Coburn,
87, of San Jose died at 9:06 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at his
home.
There is no
visitation.
Burial of cremains
will be in Green Hill Cemetery, San Jose.
Hurley Funeral Home
is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Coburn retired in
1977 from R.G. Letourenal (WABCO).
He was a U.S. Navy
veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Bronze Star. He
served in the South Pacific in 1943 and in the Reserves as a CPO
until 1957.
He was born Dec. 10,
1914, in Vermillion County, Ind. His adoptive parents were Vernon
and Nola Marshall Coburn. He married Jo Schwering on Dec. 26, 1953,
at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bath. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, R.L. Coburn
of Texas and Brent W. Coburn of San Jose; one daughter, Shirley
Taylor of San Jose; five grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
Frances Mathis
Frances Mathis, 80,
of Lincoln died at 10:02 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at St.
Clara's Manor.
Her funeral was
at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in
Lincoln. Visitation was during the hour before the service.
In the afternoon,
family and friends will meet at Forest Lawn Memorial Garden Cemetery, Macomb,
for the burial at 2:30.
Mrs. Mathis was a
waitress for 33 years at the Tropics restaurant in Lincoln.
She was born Jan. 11,
1921, in Macomb to Ralph T. and Irene Johnson Bagley.
Surviving are one
daughter, Nancy J. Krusz of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lew Johnson of Lincoln and Don
Johnson of Dunedin, Fla.; and one sister, Christine McGee of
Lincoln.
She was preceded in
death by one son, Randall K. Mathis; one brother, Lenard Johnson;
and one sister, Hazel Dye.
She was a member of
Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, ABWA and Home Extension.
She graduated from
high school in Macomb.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran
Church of Lincoln or to Hospice Care of Illinois.
