William
"Bill" Becker Sr., 73, of Lincoln died at 1:10 a.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln. The rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m.
The
funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church in
Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.
Burial
will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.
Becker
was a salesman for Sears Roebuck & Co., Chicago, before his
retirement.
He
served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean
War.
He
was born July 21, 1928, in Chicago to William E. and Marie Donogala
Becker. He married Marie Bueltel on May 6, 1950, in Chicago.
Surviving
Becker are his wife, of Lincoln; one daughter, Judith Alberts of
Lincoln; one son, William (and Dawn) Becker Jr. of Sullivan; one
granddaughter, Melissa Alberts of Saffern, N.Y.; four grandsons,
Timothy Alberts of Lexington Park, Md., Allen Becker of Champaign,
and Nathan and Ryan Becker of Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah.
He
was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln and a past grand
knight and senior knight 4th Degree of Lansing Council
3540.
Memorials
may be made to Hospice of Central Illinois or the American Cancer
Society.

Loeffler
Elsie
Mae Loeffler, 58, of Lincoln died at 5:25 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24,
2002, in the emergency room at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Cremation
rites were accorded. There will be no visitation.
A
memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Holland and
Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial
will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs.
Loeffler worked at Lincoln Developmental Center.
She
was born Oct. 18, 1943, in Springfield. She married Rocky Squaire,
and he preceded her in death. She married John W. Loeffler on April
18, 1972, in Lincoln. He died Jan. 29, 1998.
She
was also preceded in death by her father, Allen Gum, and her
stepmother, Bernice.
Surviving
are one son, Michael Gum of Beaver Dam, Wis.; a stepson, Randy
Squaire of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Tom Gum of
Mechanicsburg; and one sister, Ann Smith of Florida. She was raising
her grandson Allen Michael Giles like her own son.
She
was of the Christian faith.

Mildred
Stolz, 89, of Lincoln died at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at
Lexington Country Place in Lexington, Ky.
Her
funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Larry Maffett officiating.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service.
Burial
will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs.
Stolz retired from teaching in Lincoln Elementary Schools.
She
was born Sept. 26, 1912, in Broadwell to Olof and Sigrid Svenson
Olson. She married Louis Stolz on July 13, 1940, in Lincoln. He died
Dec. 12, 1994.
Surviving
relatives in Lexington, Ky., are one daughter, Cynthia Smith; one
grandson, Brad (and Marta) Scroggin; one granddaughter, Carnee (and
Charles) Ashley; and three great-grandchildren, Meredith, Brandon
and Shelby Scroggin. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
As
the last of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by eight
sisters and two brothers.
She
was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lincoln, Logan
County-DeWitt County Retired Teachers, Illinois Education
Association, National Education Association, Abraham Lincoln
Auxiliary and Lincoln Woman’s Club.
She
attended Lincoln College and graduated from Illinois State
University.
Memorials
may be made to First United Methodist Church of Lincoln or the
Kentucky chapter of Alzheimer’s Association.

Ann
Fry, 83, of Lincoln died at 11:28 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Kerrigan Funeral Home
in Lincoln.
A
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in
Lincoln at 10 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.
Burial
will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs.
Fry was a dietary supervisor at Logan Correctional Center. She also
operated the family bait shop.
She
was born May 17, 1918, in Lincoln to William and Alice McNally
Hickey. She married Byron Fry on Dec. 25, 1943, in Lincoln. He died
May 11, 1965.
Surviving
are four sons, Michael (and wife Lonna) Fry of Clinton, Pat Fry of
Lincoln, Ray (and wife Katie) Fry of Lincoln and Mark Fry of
Lincoln; two daughters, Ann Mardis of Lincoln and Kathy (and husband
Brian) Diamond of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
She
was also preceded in death by one son, six brothers and one sister.
She
was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln and the American
Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
She
was an avid hunter and fisherman with her family.

Elmer
J. Koester, 90, of Lincoln died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002,
at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home
in Lincoln.
The
funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 1, at Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church of Lincoln, with Pastor Roger David officiating.
Burial
will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland.
Koester
was a retired farmer. He also retired from Myers Industries in
Lincoln.
He
was born Oct. 16, 1911, at New Holland to Harman and Anna Kohl
Koester. He married Esther Anna Sahs on Jan. 27, 1938, in Lincoln.
She died Sept. 12, 1995.
Surviving
are one son, Wayne Koester of Boiling Springs, S.C.; two brothers,
P.H. Koester of New Holland and Bernell Koester of David City, Neb.;
one sister, Pauline Harris of Olney; and nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by one brother, Hank Koester.
He
was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Lincoln.
Memorials
may be made to his church or to Hospice Care of Illinois.

Anna
M. Clark, 78, of Lake Fork died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Memorial
Medical Center in Springfield.
Mrs.
Clark was cremated.
There
will be no visitation.
Family
services will be at a later date.
Mrs.
Clark was a homemaker for her family.
She
was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Christian County to Roley and Goldie
Matthews Larimore. She married Chester D. Clark in 1942 in
Missouri.
Surviving
are her husband, of Lake Fork; two sons, Francis D. Clark of
Springfield and Charles W. Clark of Lake Fork; one daughter, Charyl
May of Mahomet; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
