‘Bud’ Fitzgibbon
John
J. "Bud" Fitzgibbon, 72, of Elkhart, formerly of Broadwell,
died at 8:35 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Kerrigan Funeral Home,
Lincoln. The rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m.
The
funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Church in
Elkhart, with the Rev. Patrick DeMeulemeester officiating.
Burial,
with military rites, will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.
Fitzgibbon
was a lifelong farmer in the Broadwell area.
He
was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He attained the rank of
corporal.
He
as born Jan. 24, 1929, in Lincoln to John L. and Kathryn Van Meter
Fitzgibbon. He married Esther Cronbaugh on Jan. 14, 1956, in
Springfield. She died Nov. 23, 1992.
Surviving
are one son, Gerald Fitzgibbon of Broadwell; two daughters, Andrea
(and husband Jim) Monninger of Bloomington and Rhonda (and husband
John) Young of Champaign; six grandchildren; one
great-granddaughter; two sisters, Agnes (and husband Albert)
Durcholz of Elkhart and Kathleen Williams of Elkhart; and special
friend Nancy Wassell of Springfield.
He
was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Elkhart, a 46-year member
of American Legion Post 616 in Elkhart, a former Broadwell Township
official, and a member of the Lincoln Knights of Columbus, Logan
County Farm Bureau, Antique Motorcycle Club and American Motorcycle
Association.

Nyberg
Adrienne
N. Nyberg, 23, of Poplar, Wis., died Dec. 25, 2001, in Wisconsin.
Graveside
services will be at noon Friday, Jan. 4, at Steenbergen Cemetery in
Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Paul Gilmore officiating.
Visitation
will be at Veail Chapel, Steenbergen Cemetery, one hour before the
services.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She
was born Jan. 10, 1978, in Springfield.
Surviving
are her mother, Nedra Trago Amys (and Richard) of Poplar, Wis.; her
father, James L. Makinen of Bovey, Minn.; two brothers, Cameron
Trago of Poplar, Wis., and James R. Makinen of Superior, Wis.; two
sisters, Jamie Makinen of Calumet, Minn., and Tabitha Thoennes of
Bovey, Minn.; her maternal grandmother, Kathleen Trago of Calumet,
Minn.; and her paternal grandfather, Jack Makinen of Grand Rapids,
Minn.
She
was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Robert Trago; her
paternal grandmother, Shirley Makinen; and Debbie Phelps.

‘Betty’ Butler
Lovetta
"Betty" Butler, 92, of Mount Pulaski died at 9:55 a.m.
Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at her daughter’s home.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. This is the same time as visitation
for her sister, Myrtle Boyd, who died Dec. 29.
Funeral
services, officiated by Jon Rose, will be at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski on Thursday at 2 p.m., the same
hour as services for her sister Myrtle Boyd.
Mrs.
Butler was a homemaker.
She
was born May 25, 1909, in Hull to Leslie and Teanie Judy Ridgeway.
She married Gerald Butler in Buffalo on Feb. 23, 1932. He died Oct.
1, 1986.
Surviving
are one daughter, Sandra (and husband Donald) McCain of Mount
Pulaski; four grandchildren, Mark (and Christina) McCain of Mosinee,
Wis., Jerry (and Lyn) McCain of Oosterberg, Wis., Susan (and Daryl)
Clayton of Mount Pulaski and Steve (and Kim) McCain of Mount
Pulaski; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles (and Ruth)
Ridgeway of Broadwell; and two sisters, Wilma Brown and June Butler,
both of Lincoln.
She
was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
She
was a member of Broadwell Christian Church.

Myrtle
Irene Boyd, 81, of Mount Pulaski died at 11:21 a.m. Saturday, Dec.
29, 2001, at Vonderlieth Living Center.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
The
funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home in Mount Pulaski, with Bill Shanle officiating.
Burial
will be in Kline Cemetery, rural Broadwell.
Mrs.
Boyd was a homemaker. She was employed by Pillsbury and CIPS in
Springfield.
She
was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Spaulding to Leslie and Teanie Judy
Ridgeway. She married Orville W. Cooley on June 13, 1952. He died in
1970. She married Dale Boyd on May 19, 1973, in Springfield. He
survives, in Mount Pulaski.
Also
surviving are two daughters, Nancy Cooley Vonnahmen of Springfield
and Janice (and Jeffrey) Holzworth of Taylorville; one stepson,
Danny (and Nancy) Boyd of Osage Beach, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Rita
(and Leonard) Remmert of Henderson, Nev., and Lana (and Bart) Miller
of Lincoln; two grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren; two
step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles (and Ruth) Ridgeway
of Broadwell; and three sisters, Betty Butler of Mount Pulaski,
Wilma Brown of Lincoln and June Butler of Lincoln.
She
was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
