Nina McDaniel

Nina McDaniel, 85, of Atlanta was pronounced dead at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at her Logan County Residence.

Graveside memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Mount Pleasant Cemtery in rural Stanford, with Mr. Vernon L. Oakley officiating.

There will be no visitation. Quiram Funeral Home of Atlanta is handling the arrangements.

Ms. McDaniel was retired from the Lincoln Developmental Center in 1982.

She was born Nov. 16, 1917, in Stanford to Ira and Hattie Prince Hulva. She married Alvin McDaniel in Gary, Ind. on Sept. 25, 1938. Mr. McDaniel died March 12, 1996.

Surviving are one daughter, Bonna (and husband Scott) Johnson of Mason, Ohio; one son, Gary (and wife Pat) McDaniel of Armington; two grandsons, Willie McDaniel of Bloomington and Les (and wife Whitney) McDaniel of Lubbock, Texas; and one great- grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad.

 


Amos Garr, Jr.

Amos Garr, Jr., 81, of Waynesville died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Complex in Danville.

His funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta, with Pastor Dan Sherstad officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville, with military rites provided by the Waynesville American Legion Post 1189.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Garr was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Waynesville to Amos Willard and Essie Naugle Garr.

Surviving are one sister, Geraldine Williams of Hallsville, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Waynesville Rescue Squad.

Robert Riddell

Robert Luther Riddell, 74, of Mason City died at 10:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Mason City Area Nursing Home in Mason City.

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at First Christian Church of Mason City, with the Revs. William Boyce, Dustin Fulton and Robert Paddack officiating.

Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery, Mason City with Military rites at the graveside provided by the American Legion Jackson Keen Post 496.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.

Riddell was a depot agent fro the railroad for 46.5 years.

He was a Naval Reserve veteran of World War II.

He was born Aug. 4, 1927, in San Jose to Charles and Lillan Durbin Riddell. He married Gwen Duel in Mason City on June 6, 1948. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Robert Lee (and wife Wilma) Riddell of Norfolk, Va. and Roger Kenneth (and wife Karen) Riddell of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Mason City and was a Deacon there for 18 years, treasurer since 1985. He was also a member of American Legion Jackson Keen Post 496 in Mason City.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Mason City Trustee Fund.

 


Francis Stauffer

Francis Stauffer, 90, of Lincoln, died at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Easton Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements.

Stauffer was employed by the Logan Mason Rehab Center.

He was born Nov. 4, 1911, to Marcellus and Maude Stauffer.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
