George Spurr
George H. Spurr, 79,
of Lincoln died at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002.
Visitation will be
from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at Holland and Barry Funeral
Home.
His funeral will be
at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holland and Barry, with Pastor Mark Peters
officiating.
Burial, with military
and fraternal rites, will be at noon Friday in Camp Butler Cemetery,
Springfield.
Spurr served 20 years
in the U.S. Navy. He was a welder.
He was born March 20,
1923, in Jefferson City, Mo., to George Sr. and Laura Miller Spurr
of Bonne Terre, Mo.
Surviving are his
companion, Helen Staples Spurr, of Lincoln and her children, Charles
Branham of Bloomington, Fred Barnes of Bloomington, Sue Stiers of
Bloomington and Dixie Buss of Lawndale; his grandson, Wesley Fuchs
of Lincoln, who was raised by George and Helen Spurr as their own
son; his mother; one brother, Tom Spurr of Bonne Terre, Mo.; two
sisters, Wanda Miles of Bonne Terre, Mo., and Betty Danielson of
Manchester, Mo.
He was preceded in
death by his father and one brother, Jack Spurr.
He was a member of
American Legion Post 263 of Lincoln and Lincoln VFW.
He will be sadly
missed by Wes Fuchs’ football and wrestling team members of the
Olympia High School graduating class of 1997 as well as by his
friends, family and neighbors.

Juanita Perkins
Juanita Perkins, 64,
of Springfield died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at her home.
Friends may call at
Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen in Springfield, from 4 to 7
p.m. Thursday, June 13. Services will be there at 10 a.m. Friday,
with Bishop Jay Lohman officiating.
Burial will be in
Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
Mrs. Perkins worked
as a checker for Shop N Save on Dirksen Parkway in Springfield.
She was born Feb. 13,
1938, in Logan County to John Clancy and Marguarite Guffey Roher.
She married Robert Lee Perkins on Oct. 6, 1973, in Springfield. He
survives.
Also surviving are
three sons, Darrell L. (and Elizabeth) Gibbs of Decatur, David L.
(and Sheryl) Gibbs of Cornland and Kenneth E. (and Karol) Gibbs of
Cornland; two daughters, Peggy Sue Gibbs of Mason City and Donna
Jean (and Allen) Eeten of Mount Pulaski; several grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; two brothers, Lonnie G. Roher of Springfield and
Ed (and Katherine) Roher of Springfield; one sister, Linda (and
Wendall) Milner of Fancy Prairie; and several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
She was preceded in
death by her parents and by a son, Stewart Lee Gibbs, who died in
1993.
She was a member of
the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.

Harry Duncan
Harry H. Duncan, 80,
of Mount Pulaski died at 12:18 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at the
Christian Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
His funeral will be
at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Mount Pulaski.
The Rev. Richard Stamm will officiate.
Burial will be in
Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.
Duncan was a railroad
stationmaster for 35 years.
He was also a veteran
of military service.
He was born July 26,
1921, in Latham to Wendell and Sarah Hayes Duncan. He married Edith
Hannah Edgecombe in Warrensburg on June 17, 1948.
Surviving are one
brother, James Duncan of Hyasaville, Md., and two sisters, Mary
Campbell of Clinton and Margaret Werner of Maroa.
He was preceded in
death by his wife; three brothers, Clarence, Howard and Donald; and
four sisters, Elva Conway, Betty Jean Duncan, Helen Wilham and
Georgia Purcell.
He was a member of
Zion Lutheran Church of Mount Pulaski and the Mount Pulaski VFW Post
777.
