Frances Phillips

Frances D. Phillips, 89, of Lincoln died at 3 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2002 in the emergency room at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.


Malcolm Page

Malcolm R. Page, 84, formerly of San Jose, died at 1:20 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2002, at the Christian Village in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Hurley Funeral Home in San Jose. The funeral will be Monday morning at 11 at the same location. The Rev. Allen Payne will officiate.

Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, rural San Jose.

Page was a machinist at Cutler-Hammer in Lincoln. He retired in 1983.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

He was born June 12, 1918, in Summer Shade, Ky., to Joseph E. and Vinnie Lura Harvey Page. He married Vera Mildred Fangmeier on Aug. 15, 1944, in Peoria. She died Dec. 2, 1982.

Surviving are one son, Boyd Page of San Jose; three daughters, Mary Ann Murray of Madison, Ind., Judy Wheat of Tremont and Janis Milonas of Glen Cove, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathryn Hamilton of Mesa, Ariz.

He was also preceded in death by one brother.

He was a member of San Jose Christian Church, San Jose American Legion Post and the Over 55 Club in Mason City.

Memorial contributions may be made to San Jose Fire and Rescue.

Charles Horney

Charles Edwin Horney, 88, of Lincoln died at 10:48 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2002, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

A graveside service, with military rites, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Horney was retired from farming in the Beason area and from Myers Industries in Lincoln.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was born May 8, 1914, in Waynesville to William Guy and Rose Page Horney Anderson.

Surviving are one son, Michael Horney of Lincoln; two daughters, Kathy Winn of Normal and Janis (and Rex) Lillard of Groveland; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Everett Horney of Beason and Elmer (and Doris) Horney of New Hampton, Iowa; and one sister, Effie May Beard of Sterling.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

He was a member of VFW Post 1756, to which memorials may be made.
