Margaret
Spinner, 88, of Lincoln died at 3:05 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2002, at
St. Clara’s Manor.
Visitation
will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her
funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church in
Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.
A
graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Calvary Cemetery,
Pana.
Mrs.
Spinner was a seamstress at Lincoln Garment Factory for 35 years.
She
was born Jan. 23, 1914, in Bendorf, Germany, to Johan and Marie
Jaschke. She married John Frank Spinner on Feb. 21, 1941, in
Pana. He died Dec. 3, 1958.
Surviving
are one son, John (and Diana) Spinner of Hartsburg; one daughter,
Mary (and Gerald) Jones of Delavan; 10 grandchildren; 17
great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hilda Ragonese of Baltimore,
Md.
She
was also preceded in death by one sister.
She
was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln and the Garment Worker’s
Union.

Meacham
John
Meacham, 80, of DuQuoin died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002,
at his home.
Visitation
will be at the Neal-McClure Funeral Home in DuQuoin on Friday, March
1, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until the
service, which will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Neal-McClure Memorial
Chapel. The Rev. Darwin Schrader and David Jewell will officiate.
Burial
will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin.
Meacham
was a carpenter and general contractor and worked in mine
construction.
He
served in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Europe during World War
II.
He
was born March 22, 1921, in Lincoln to Herman and Mary Ryan Meacham.
He married Pauline Juhl on June 30, 1946, in New Holland.
Surviving
are his wife, Pauline Meacham of DuQuoin; two sons and
daughters-in-law, John and Bonnie Meacham of Chester and Bill and
Nadine Meacham of Edwardsville; three daughters and one son-in-law,
Donna Meacham of Springfield, Jo Ellyn and Robert Grove of
Fairbanks, Alaska, and Sandra Meacham of DuQuoin; four
grandchildren, Matt of Chester, Ann and Mike of Edwardsville, and
Casey of Fairbanks, Alaska; and one sister, Mary Hurley of Lincoln.
He
was a member of DuQuoin VFW Post 513 and DuQuoin American Legion
Post 647.
An
avid hunter and fisherman, he was active in the Franklin County
Beagle Club, the DuQuoin Bass Club and the National and Illinois
State Rifle Associations.

Dean Hamil, 63, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Broadwell, died Dec.
15, 2001.
A
private, family committal of ashes was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb.
27, at New Union Cemetery, Lincoln. The Rev. William Adam
officiated.
There
was no visitation.

and Barry Funeral Home of Lincoln handled local arrangements.
Hamil
was born June 18, 1938, in Middletown to Harlen W. and Nellie L.
Wright Hamil.
His
mother, a Lincoln resident, survives.
He
was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Doris J. Bates.

Paul
McCray, 68, of Lincoln died at 12:37 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2002, at
Abraham
Lincoln
Memorial Hospital.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 4, at Kerrigan Funeral Home
in Lincoln.
His
funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kerrigan, with the
Rev. Clyde Shreve officiating.
Cremation
will follow the funeral.
McCray
was a retired truck driver. He had also worked in construction for
the state of Illinois.
He
was born Dec. 13, 1933, in Lincoln to Walter and Flossie Russell
McCray. He married Lucia Compton on June 22, 1961, in Wapella.
Surviving
are one son, Kevin McCray of Robinson; one daughter, Kathy Lercher
of Lincoln; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three
brothers, LeRoy and Kenneth McCray of Lincoln and Harold McCray of
Canyon Lake, Texas; and two sisters, Norma Anderson of Lincoln and
Betty Heckler of Riverton.
He
was preceded in death by one daughter and one brother.
He
was a member of the Teamsters and the American Motorcycle
Association.

F. Davis, 82, of Moweaqua, formerly of Mount Pulaski, died at 11
p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Her
funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 4, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with Pastor Don Horath officiating.
Visitation will be one hour before the service, at the funeral home.
Burial
will be in Lake Bank Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.
Mrs.
Davis was owner and operator of Davis Janitor Service.
She
was born June 11, 1919, in Mount Pulaski to Thomas and Mabel Roberts
Howe. She married Earl Edwards in Palmyra, Mo., in 1939. Later she
married Charles L. Davis, on Jan. 23, 1956, in Decatur.
Surviving
are her husband, Charles Davis of Moweaqua; two sons, Thomas W.
Davis of Moweaqua and Eugene R. (and Pam) Davis of Decatur; two
daughters, Joyce Ann Ellison of Decatur and Earlene Kay Sarver of
Venice, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one
sister, Virgie Deavers of North Carolina.
She
was preceded in death by an infant brother.
She
was a member of Hillside Bethel Tabernacle in Decatur.

Houghton, 81, of Atlanta died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at
Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Atlanta.
Her
funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Liberty Baptist Church in
Minier. The Rev. John Horner will officiate.
Burial
will be in Mountjoy Cemetery, rural Atlanta.
Mrs.
Houghton worked as a licensed practical nurse at Bartmann’s
Nursing Home, Atlanta; Christian Nursing Home, Lincoln; Hopedale
Medical Complex, Hopedale; and several years as Dr. Lang’s office
nurse in Armington.
She
was born Dec. 2, 1920, at Warrensburg, Mo., to Reed and Hattie Cox
McMurry. She married Delmar D. Houghton on Dec. 10, 1937, in
Warrensburg, Mo. He survives.
Also
surviving are one daughter, Darlene Fulk of Springfield; two sons,
John (and Kristina) Houghton of St. Louis, Mo., and Daryl (and Ann)
Houghton of Millsboro, Del.; and three grandchildren, Lori Wright,
Robert Houghton and Kelly Houghton.
One
sister preceded her in death.
She
was a graduate of St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing in
Springfield.
She
was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Minier.
