Hurley
Harold
R. Hurley, 74, of Lincoln died at 11:26 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002,
at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home
in Lincoln. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial
will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Hurley
had farmed for 20 years and worked as janitor at Lincoln Junior High
School for five years before his retirement.
He
was born March 18, 1927, in Lincoln to Carl and Annie Werkman
Hurley. He married Lorene E. Presswood on April 29, 1944, in
Lincoln. She survives.
Also
surviving are one daughter, Carol Sue Beck of Kirbyville, Mo.; one
son, Gary L. Hurley of Lincoln; six grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; four brothers, Carl, Bill and Edward Hurley,
all of Lincoln, and Virgil Hurley of California; and two sisters,
Thelma Fulk and Linda Woodard, both of Lincoln.
He
was preceded in death by two sons, Terry L. and Robert D. Hurley,
and one brother, Claude Hurley.
He
was of the Southern Baptist faith.
He
was a former member of the Eagles Club.

Fenison
Charles
"Chuck" James Fenison, 84, of Mason City died at 8:19 p.m.
Monday, March 4, 2002, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
His
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Hurley Funeral
Home, 603 E. Chestnut in Mason City. The Rev. Patrick Clough will
officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Burial
will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Fenison
worked at National Bi-Products in Mason City before he retired in
1984.
He
was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He
was born Nov. 29, 1917, in Kingsland, Ark., to John Wesley and
Melinda Jane Ballard Fenison. He married Margarite Lucille Whitley
in Leadville, Colo. She died March 25, 1997.
Surviving
are one son, David (and Linda) Fenison of Mason City, and three
grandchildren.
He
was also preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
He
was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City and a past
member of the VFW.
Memorial

Becherer
Margaret
"Mickey" Boyett Becherer, 75, of Alexandria, Va., formerly
of Lincoln, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002 at Inova Alexandria
Hospital in Virginia.
Cremation
rites were accorded.
A
memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, at Trinity
Episcopal Church in Lincoln, with the Venerable William H. Moore
Jr., archdeacon of Springfield, officiating.
Inurnment
of ashes will be in the Trinity Episcopal Church Columbarium.
Mrs.
Becherer was co-owner of Becherers’ Jewelry in Hope, Ark. She
retired and moved to Lincoln in 1991. She and her husband resided in
Lincoln until 1997.
She
was born Feb. 1, 1927, in Hope, Ark., to James Allen and Grace Omega
Rail Boyett. She married Terry M. Becherer on Feb. 15, 1948.
Surviving
are her husband, of Alexandria, Va.; two daughters, Terri Becherer
of Los Angeles, Calif., and Sally Becherer of Springfield; one son,
Thomas L. (and wife Jenny) Becherer of Arlington, Va.; one grandson,
Tom Ed Becherer of Arlington, Va.; one brother, Barney Boyett of San
Antonio, Texas; and one sister, Johnnie Hanks of Conway, Ark.
She
was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Va.

Arlie
Joiner, 69, of Lincoln died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2002, at
his home.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His
funeral, also at Fricke-Calvert Schrader, will be at 3 p.m.
Thursday. Craig Smith will officiate.
Joiner
was former owner and operator of Arrowhead Campground at Clinton. He
worked 30 years at Lincoln Developmental Center and was a supervisor
at Logan Mason Rehabilitation Center.
He
served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
He
was born Sept. 16, 1932, in Harrisburg to Arlie and Ressie Belford
Joiner. He married Lila Lockaby on May 12, 1956, in Corinth, Miss.
Surviving
are one son, Jeff (and Carolyn) Joiner of Dayton, N.J.; one
daughter, Lisa (and Michael) MacDonald of Lincoln; two
grandchildren, Cassandra Joiner and Miles Joiner, both of Dayton,
N.J.; and two sisters, Lois Horchem of Mount Pulaski and Irene
Whitlock of Lincoln.
He
was preceded in death by his wife, one brother and one sister.

Dana
Lynn Butler, 42, of Wilmington, Del., formerly of Mason City, died
Friday, March 1, 2002, at his home.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Hurley Funeral Home
in Mason City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral
home, with the Rev. William Boyce officiating.
Burial
will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Mr.
Butler was a welder for Kavron Shipyard.
He
was born Aug. 3, 1959, in Lincoln.
Surviving
are his father, Wayne Nelson, of Mason City; one daughter, Lisa
Butler of Florida; and three brothers, Shawn Nelson of Middletown
and Earl and Dirk Nelson of Mason City.
He
was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Butler.
Memorial
