Donald
E. Douthit, 70, of Lincoln died at 7:20 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2002,
at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His
funeral, also at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, will be at 10:30 a.m.
Friday. The Rev. Ray Hudson will officiate.
Burial,
with military rites, will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Douthit
was a retired supervisor from Cutler-Hammer-Eaton Corp. in Lincoln.
He worked 36 years in computer and data processing.
He
served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He
was born May 28, 1931, in Shelbyville to Earl and Bonnie Shutt
Douthit. He married Clara E. Davis on Aug. 31, 1952, in Atlanta.
Surviving
are his wife, Clara, of Lincoln; one son, Dr. Don E. (and Marcia)
Douthit of West Chester, Ohio; one daughter, Diane E.
"Dee" (and Eric) Loughmiller of Naperville; four
grandchildren, Ashley N. Douthit, Andrew N. "Drew" Douthit,
Nicki Loughmiller and Chad Loughmiller; and one sister, Donice K.
(and John) Payne of Tampa, Fla.
He
was preceded in death by one sister, Joanne Speciale.
He
was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln,
American Legion Post 263 and Lincoln Benevolent Protective Order of
Elks Lodge 914.
He
was an avid golfer and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Memorials
may be made to Elks Crippled Children Fund, Logan County Paramedics
Association or the American Legion building fund.

at St. Clara’s Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral
services are pending at Kerrigan Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Elvira
C. Smith, 88, of San Jose died at 6:10 a.m. Sunday, March 10, 2002
at Mason District Hospital in Havana.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Hurley Funeral Home
in San Jose.
Her
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at San Jose United Methodist
Church. The Rev. Don Doty and the Rev. Cindy Rettig will officiate.
Burial
will be in Green Hill Cemetery, San Jose.
Mrs.
Smith had been a secretary for Richard Smith Insurance in Mason
City.
She
was born Dec. 15, 1913, in San Jose to Louis and Anna Smith
Gruensfelder.
She
married Clarence Smith on Feb. 15, 1941, in San Jose. He survives.
Also
surviving are one son, Alan C. (and Lisa) Smith of Laguna Niguel,
Calif.; one daughter, Nancy (and Michael) Nykanen of San Jose; two
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Laurine
Loresch of Fox River Grove and Ruth Gruensfelder of San Jose.
Mrs.
Smith was a member of the United Methodist Church of San Jose and
was active in the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of
the San Jose Women’s Club.
