Reba
M. Nighswander, 87, of Lincoln died at 12:35 p.m. Friday, March 22,
2002, at the Christian Village Nursing Home.
Visitation
is from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, at Lincoln Christian Church.
Her
funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with Tim Searby and Ryan
Edgecomb officiating.
Following
the service in Lincoln, family and friends are invited to meet at
the Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon, at 3 p.m. for the committal
service.
Mrs.
Nighswander had worked as a dental receptionist.
She
was born Oct. 14, 1914, in Chauncy to Charles and Augusta Baker
Smith. She married John E. Nighswander on April 1, 1933, in
Bridgeport.
Surviving
Mrs. Nighswander are her husband, of Lincoln; one daughter, Nancy J.
Sager of Lincoln; four sons, J. Richard Nighswander of LaGrange,
Ronald S. Nighswander of Philadelphia, Pa., James K. Nighswander of
Springfield and Thomas L. Nighswander of Justice; 17 grandchildren;
34 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edward B. Smith of Webster,
Texas.
She
was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mattoon, the Literary
Club of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Ladies Circle and
the Baptist Church. She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army and
the hospital auxiliary. She was also a Sunday School teacher.
Memorials
may be made to the Christian Village Nursing Home of Lincoln.
