A. Castor, 82, of Atlanta died at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002,
at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta.
Services
will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial
will be in Atlanta Cemetery.
Bill
was a farm laborer and was employed for several years at Hoblit Seed
Company in Atlanta.
He
was born March 3, 1920, at Oakley to John and Viola Victoria Castor.
There
are no surviving relatives. Four brothers and sisters preceded him
in death.
He
enjoyed gardening, rabbits, fishing and his dog.
Anne
Loercher
Anne
Freda Loercher, 96, formerly of Bloomington, died at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, March 24, 2002, at the Christian Village Nursing Home in
Lincoln.
Her
funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Holland and Barry
Funeral Home, Lincoln. The Rev. Rich Reinwald and the Rev. Mark
Hamner will officiate.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service.
Burial
will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs.
Loercher taught grade school several seasons and was later on the
staff of State Farm Insurance Companies.
She
was born April 1, 1905, in Saybrook to Max R. and Louisa Hass
Begolka. She married Henry P. Loercher on Dec. 18, 1929, in Lincoln.
He preceded her in death.
She
was also preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Walter and
Harry Begolka, and four sisters, Rose (infant), Lillie Begolka, Emma
(wife of George) Opperman and Dorothy (wife of Vernet) Robinson.
She
is survived by her brother Raymond (and wife Evelyn) Begolka.
Her
many civic interests included serving as secretary, publicity
chairman, director, parliamentarian, chaplain, vice president and
president of the Bloomington Woman’s Club; president of
Bloomington Regional Women’s Guild; and on the board of the YMCA
and the Miller Park Zoo board. She was also a member of the McLean
County Home Bureau and Brokaw Hospital Service League.
She
was a member of St. Luke’s Church in Bloomington. She had served
as president of the National Missions of the church and taught
intermediate and senior Sunday School.
She
was confirmed May 27, 1928, at St. John United Church of Christ in
Lincoln.
She
graduated from Atlanta High School and attended Illinois Wesleyan
University.
Memorials
may be made to Miller Park Zoo or St. Luke’s Church, both in
Bloomington.

Mildred
Knauer
Mildred
Knauer, 84, of Mount Pulaski died at 3:55 a.m. Wednesday, March 27,
2002, at Vonderlieth Living Center.
Her
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Mount Pulaski Zion
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Droegemueller officiating.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski is in charge
of arrangements. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday.
Mrs.
Knauer had been custodian at Zion Lutheran Church and a sales clerk
at Stahl’s Furniture.
She
was born April 17, 1917, at St. Elmo to Martin and Lydia Leppin
Richert. She married Erwin H. Knauer in St. Peter on May 3, 1994.
Surviving
are one son, Gary E. (and Judy) Knauer of Mount Pulaski; one
daughter, Judith Ann (and Charles) Reeves of Mount Pulaski; one
grandson, Vance Knauer of Mount Pulaski; one brother, John (and
Viola) Richert of Beason; and one sister-in-law, Agnes Richert of
Springfield.
She
was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Raymond.
She
was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski.
Memorials
may be made to her church or to Zion Lutheran School in Mount
Pulaski.
