Marilyn Durchholz

Marilyn M. Durchholz, 79, of Mount Pulaski died at 5:43 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2002, at her home.

Private visitation for the family will be at Veail Chapel, with Fricke-Calvert Schrader Funeral Home of Mount Pulaski in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.

Private services for the family will be at a future date. Bill Shanle will officiate.

Mrs. Durchholz was a homemaker for her family.

She was born Dec. 3, 1922, in Mount Pulaski. She married Elmer "Butch" Durchholz on Dec. 29, 1942, in Bowling Green, Mo.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Wayne (and Kay) Durchholz of Mount Pulaski and Dale Leroy (and Dawn) Durchholz of Bloomington; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Leroy Keith "L.K." (and Dolly) Buckles Jr. of Mount Pulaski and Henry Frank (and Irma Jean) Buckles of Mount Pulaski.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy Keith Buckles Sr. and Helen F. Copeland.

She was a member of Buffalo Christian Church, Mount Pulaski Christian Church, Christian Church Loyal Daughters, American Legion Auxiliary and Junior Woman’s Club. She was a longtime 4-H leader in the community and worked at the Logan County clerk’s office for a number of years.

Memorials may be made to American Legion Auxiliary for VA hospital work.

Bryson Boyer

Bryson Wayne Boyer, the 3 ½- month- old infant son of Joshua Boyer and Amanda Miner, died at 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 14.

A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.

Bryson was born in Lincoln on Jan. 18, 2002.

His parents live in Lincoln.  His maternal grandparents are Denice Miner and Eugene Miner, both of Lincoln.  His paternal grandparents are Vickie (and James) Schleder of Lincoln and Jerry Boyer of Middletown.  His maternal great-grandparent George Malone is from Lincoln.  Paternal great-grandparents are Winifred (and Roy) Meserole of Clinton and Jack Wolf Sr. of Peoria. Maternal great- great-grandparents are Ruth Flynn of Meredosia and Lilly Wilcox of Pittsfield. Paternal great-great-grandparents are Harold and Eleanor Miner.

He was preceded in death by his great- grandmothers Wanda Malone and Hazel Miner and by grandparents Everett and Maxine Boyer.

Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude’s Foundation or Shriner’s Hospital.

Willard Grubbs

Willard Dale Grubbs, 52, of Leslie, Ark., died at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, May 12, 2002, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Funks Grove Cemetery, Macon County.

Grubbs was retired from maintenance work for the Logan County Housing Authority in Lincoln.

He was born Jan. 10, 1950, in Woolum, Ark. He married Debbie Morris Laskin in Decatur in November 1979.

Surviving Grubbs are his mother, Daisy E. Ray of Lincoln, his stepfather, Jack L. Duncan of Decatur, one son, B.J. Grubbs of Decatur; one sister, Jane Fairbanks of Lincoln; cousin William Ray of Leslie, Ark., who was raised with Willard like a brother; and a nephew, J.R. Maple of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his father, John L. Grubbs.

He was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Memorials may be made to the family.


John Harmon

John P. Harmon, 37, of Atlanta died from injuries received in a one-vehicle accident. Pronouncement of death was made by Logan County Deputy Coroner Warren Rogers at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta. His funeral, also at Quiram, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. David Venter will officiate.

Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery.

Harmon was employed as a field operator for McLeod USA.

He was born July 8, 1964, at Hopedale to Charles D. and Alice M. Tayor Harmon.

Relatives are his mother, of Atlanta; two sons, Anthony Chance and John Robert Harmon, and one daughter, Dusty Jean Harmon, at home in Atlanta; three sisters, Janice (and Kenny) McRoberts, Sandra (and Mark) Hill and Kathy (and Randy) Combs, all of Atlanta; one brother, Charles Ray Harmon of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He was a member of ABATE.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad or to the Atlanta United Methodist Church.
