Harry
W. Menzel, 85, of Lincoln died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His
funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church
of Lincoln, with the Rev. Larry Maffett officiating.
Burial
will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Menzel
was a petroleum salesman for Logan Farm Service for 28 years.
He
was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He
was born April 2, 1917, in Lincoln to Julius and Carolina Jaggi
Menzel. He married Dorothy Earle in Malden, Mo., in 1943.
Surviving
Menzel are his wife, of Lincoln; four sons, Harry Earl (and Jean)
Menzel of Kankakee, David (and Pat) Menzel of Springfield, Michael
(and Marsha) Menzel of Williamsville and Scott (and Wendy) Menzel of
Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one
sister, Maxine Menzel of Lincoln; and one brother, Julian (and
Elsie) Menzel of Lincoln.
He
was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lincoln and the
church’s Volunteers in Mission and was a driver for the food
pantry. He was also a member of American Legion Post 263.
Memorials
may be made to American Diabetes Association or Logan County Food
Pantry.
