Ralph Bristow

Ralph E. Bristow, 78, of Waynesville died at 12:32 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, at the DeWitt County Nursing Home, rural Clinton.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 3, at Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville, with the Rev. Al Simonson officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta is in charge of arrangements.

Bristow was a mechanic before he retired in 1981. For many years he was the Waynesville Township assessor and served on the Waynesville Fire Department.

He was born Aug. 12, 1923, at rural Atlanta to Dallas and Adeline Wilson Bristow. He married Polly A. Price in Atlanta on Feb. 9, 1946. She died Oct. 22, 2000.

Surviving are three sons, Bob Bristow of Waynesville, Bill Bristow of Clinton and Dan (and Shawn) Bristow of Waynesville; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Reba Holmes of Mount Pulaski, Lois Miller of Witt and Virginia Bannister of Lincoln; one brother, Ansel Bristow of McLean; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

He enjoyed working with antique cars, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.


Deborah Klein

Deborah Lynn Klein, 48, of Riverton died at 2:10 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, at her home.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at Mount Pulaski United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Dawson and Wikoff Funeral Home of Illiopolis is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Klein was a registered nurse employed as a home health-care surveyor with the Department of Public Health. She had also worked for 14 years as a labor and delivery nurse at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born Oct. 11, 1953, in Lincoln to Dean and Mary "Peggy" Downing Scott. She married Terry Klein in 1989.

Surviving are her husband, of Riverton; her parents, of Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Shannon Vincent of Springfield; one son, Matthew Charles Vincent and wife Andra of Springfield; and three sisters, Kathy Richardson and husband Franklin of Mesa, Ariz., Judy Emrick and husband Lyndel of Mount Pulaski, and Gloria Reynolds and husband Dave of Springfield.

She was a member of Mount Pulaski United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to her church or to the American Diabetes Association.

Kenneth Hadden

Kenneth Lynn Hadden, 53, of Rushville, formerly of Tuscola, Lincoln and Decatur, died at 4:26 a.m. Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Cremation rites were accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois in Chatham.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 111 Northville in Lincoln. Raymond Pech will officiate.

Staab Polk Memorial Home in Chatham is in charge of arrangements.

Hadden once worked as an electrical engineer for BLDD, an architectural firm in Decatur.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was born Dec. 4, 1948, in Primrow, Iowa, to Thomas V. and Niva E. Scott Hadden. He married Trudy Shumard on Dec. 12, 1997. She survives.

Other survivors are five children, two stepchildren, five grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers and his mother.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
