Alma Twardos

Alma J. Twardos, 83, of Lincoln died at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln. The rosary was recited at 4:45 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial was at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with Father Thomas Taylor officiating.

Burial is in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mrs. Twardos was retired from Lehn and Fink.

She was born Nov. 16, 1919, in Lincoln to Ben F. and Coletta Seitz Donath. She married John Twardos on Feb. 2, 1941, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lincoln. He died July 20, 1984.

Surviving are one daughter, Ruthann (and husband Charles) Wolpert of Lincoln; two grandsons, John Wolpert of Decatur and Jim Wolpert of Lincoln; one great-grandchild; four step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul L. Donath of Lincoln; and one sister, Edna Miller of Lincoln.

She was also preceded in death by one son, two sisters and one brother.

She was a member of Holy Family Church, Women of the Moose Chapter 1109, REACT and the Railsplitters. She was also a volunteer at St. Clara’s Manor.

Ruth Stone

Ruth L. Stone, 74, of Mason City died at 9:55 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at her home.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Home, 603 E. Chestnut in Mason City.

Her funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mason City Presbyterian Church. William Swaar will officiate.

Burial is in Mason City Cemetery.

Mrs. Stone was a homemaker.

She was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Crane Creek Township, Mason County, to G. Kirby and Zelma King Rutledge. She married Richard C. Stone on Sept. 14, 1947, at the Mason City United Presbyterian Church. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Lois Anne (and Carol) Duewer of Mason City; one grandchild; and one brother, Harvey (and Jane) Rutledge of Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Helen Schmidt; and one brother, Richard Rutledge.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Mason City, Mason City Women’s Club, Mason City Home Extension, 4-H House Cooperative of the University of Illinois and the Sangamon chapter of the American Diabetes Association. She was a member of the Saturday Night Dance Club in Springfield for many years.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sangamon chapter of the American Diabetes Association.

 

Eugene Aukamp

Eugene Aukamp, 65, of Lincoln died at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at his home.

Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

His funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan and the Rev. William Adam officiating.

Burial is in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mr. Aukamp was a retired farmer.

He served in the Illinois National Guard and was activated to the U.S. Army in 1961.

He was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Lincoln to Walter F. and Vera C. Knauer Aukamp. He married Shirley Will on Nov. 27, 1955, in Lincoln. She survives.

Other survivors are three sons, Glen (and DiAnne) Aukamp of Lincoln, Mark (and Angela) Aukamp of Denver, Colo., and Bret (and Sally) Aukamp of Middletown; one daughter, Lori (and the Rev. Kirk) Clayton of Canton; four grandchildren, Ashley Boyer of Lincoln, Johnathan Clayton of Canton, and Emilee and Elena Aukamp of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Delmar (and Carol) Aukamp of Springfield and Donald (and Anne) Aukamp of Silver Spring, Md.; and one sister, Ruth (and Wayne) Schaffenacker of Mount Pulaski.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, where he was a Sunday school teacher, superintendent of adult Bible classes, elder and a member of the evangelism committee and board of Christian education. He was a Zion Lutheran School board member and served on the building committee. He was also a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League, received the league’s award of merit and was on the board of the Central Illinois Lutheran Camp Association.

He was a member of Logan County Farm Bureau, 4-H Youth Council and the Logan County Livestock Committee.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln, the radio ministry at Zion Lutheran Church or Lutheran Hour Ministries.
