Frances Mathis
Frances Mathis, 80,
of Lincoln died at 10:02 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at St.
Clara’s Manor.
Her funeral will be
at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in
Lincoln. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
In the afternoon,
family and friends will meet at Forest Lawn Memorial Garden Cemetery
at Macomb for the burial.
Mrs. Mathis was a
waitress for 33 years at the Tropics restaurant in Lincoln.
She was born Jan. 11,
1921, in Macomb to Ralph T. and Irene Johnson Bagley.
Surviving are one
daughter, Nancy J. Krusz of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lew Johnson of Lincoln and Don
Johnson of Dunedin, Fla.; and one sister, Christine McGee of
Lincoln.
She was preceded in
death by one son, Randall K. Mathis; one brother, Lenard Johnson;
and one sister, Hazel Dye.
She was a member of
Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, ABWA and Home Extension.
She graduated from
high school in Macomb.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran
Church of Lincoln or to Hospice Care of Illinois.
Raymond Park
Raymond E. Park, 84,
of Atlanta died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at BroMenn
Regional Medical Center in Normal.
His funeral will be
at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the Atlanta Christian Church, with
David Harmon officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the
service.
Burial will be in
Atlanta Cemetery.

Mr. Park was a
lifelong farmer in the Funks Grove and Atlanta area.
He was born Aug. 31,
1918, in Mattoon to Everett and Leva Naugle Park. He married Ivol
Irene Young in Atlanta on Oct. 12, 1940. She survives.
Also surviving are
one daughter, Janella Park of Atlanta, and one brother, Robert Park
of Bloomington.
He was preceded in
death by one sister, Hilma Yates.
He was a member of
the Atlanta Christian Church.

Rebecca Bruner
Rebecca "Becky" A.
Bruner, 39, of McLean died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002.
A memorial service
will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the McLean Christian Church,
with Howard Bowlin officiating. Visitation will be one hour before
the service.
Interment of cremains
will be in McLean Cemetery.

Mrs. Bruner was
director of sales for CD Management Company in Bloomington-Normal
and was previously director of sales and marketing for Holiday Inn
of Normal.
She was born May 18,
1963, in Normal to Robert Dean and Joanna Cavenee Pitts. She married
William Ray Bruner on Aug. 29, 1987, in Bloomington. He survives.
Other survivors are
one daughter, Natasha Anne, and twin sons, Austin Ray and Tyler
Joseph, all at home; one stepson, Brayden (and Donna) Bruner of
Atlanta; one stepgranddaughter, Natalie; her father, of McLean; two
brothers, Robert Dean II (and Sharon) Pitts of Armington and Scott
Thomas Pitts of McLean; and a niece, Michelle (and Todd) Reaska of
Naperville.
She was preceded in
death by her mother and two brothers, John Joseph Pitts and Richard
Cavenee Pitts.
She was a member of
St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Bloomington.
She was co-president
of the McLean-Waynesville PTO and a former leader for the
McLean-Heyworth Girl Scouts.
She graduated in 1985
from Southern Illinois University, where she was a member of the
Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She was recognized for leadership in
student activities by the Sphinx Club and for Women’s Greek Honorary
by the Order of Isis.
She was a very active
participant in outdoor activities. She loved to sail and had her own
sailboat at Hess Lake in Michigan.
Throughout her
illness, Becky remained a very positive and loving person with a big
heart. She participated in several walks for breast cancer research.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Roland Sandel
Roland D. Sandel, 80,
of Lincoln died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at his home.
Visitation will be
from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home in Lincoln and at Faith Lutheran Church of Lincoln during the
hour before the 10:30 a.m. funeral on Monday. The Rev. Mark Peters
will officiate at the service.
Burial will be in
Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Sandel was retired
from grain and beef farming in East Lincoln Township.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II.
He was born Aug. 15,
1922, in Lincoln to William and Dora Strampp Sandel. He married
Angelina Brummer on June 20, 1948, in Lincoln. She survives.
Also surviving are
one daughter, Mary Kathleen Flanagan of Greeley, Colo.; two sons,
David (and Margaret) Sandel of Urbana and John (and Karen) Sandel of
Lincoln; nine grandchildren; one brother, Merlin (and Gloria) Sandel
of Knightsdale, N.C.; and two sisters, Vera (and Donald) Brown of
Peoria and Eugenia (and Bob) Hilton of Seattle, Wash.
He was a charter
member of Faith Lutheran Church, where he served as president,
treasurer and elder. He also served as treasurer of AAL Branch 7554
and was involved in Kogudus activities. He was a member of Logan
County Farm Bureau, Christian Farmers, the Gideons and LinPro Square
Dancers.
He was a graduate of
Beason High School, Lincoln College and the University of Illinois.
He enlisted in the
Army in 1943 and served as a cryptographer in the Signal Corps with
MacArthur’s headquarters in Tokyo, Japan during the war. He was
honorably discharged in January 1946.
He was an auditor for
the Illinois Agricultural Association and assistant manager of Rich
Law Service Co. in Lawrence County until he began dairy farming, in
which he was engaged from 1951 to 1966. He also prepared income tax
returns for 20 years.

Church, Kogudus Retreat Center or Hospice Care of Illinois.

Betty Maness
Betty Jene Maness,
80, of Mason City died at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at Mason
City Area Nursing Home.
A graveside service
will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mason City Cemetery, with the Rev.
Dustin Fulton and the Rev. Robert Paddack officiating.
Visitation will be
private.
Arrangements are
being handled by Cain-Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.
Mrs. Maness was the
co-owner of the Diddy-Wa-Diddy restaurant in Mason City. She also
worked at Western Auto and TT’s Red Fox in Mason City.
She was born Feb. 6,
1922, in Mason City to Orville and Edna Horn Myers. She married John
Maness in Keokuk, Iowa, on July 29, 1939. He died April 1, 1998.
Surviving are one
son, Terry (and Diana) Maness of Effingham; two daughters, Linda
(and Tom) Sheary of Mason City and Kay (and Barry) Anderson of New
Holland; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three
great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Myers of Joplin,
Mo., Gary Myers of Maui, Hawaii, and David Myers of Mason City; and
one sister, Bess Entwistle of Mason City.
She was also preceded
in death by one son, John Timothy; three brothers; and one
great-great-grandson.
She was a member of
the First Christian Church of Mason City and a former deaconess of
her church.

Barbara McDougall
Barbara Jean
McDougall, 42, of rural Lincoln died at 8:53 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25,
2002, at her home.
Her funeral will be
at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kingdom Life Ministries Worship Center,
Lincoln. Pastor Joseph
Todd Bennett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the
service.
Burial will be in
Atlanta Cemetery.

Mrs. McDougall was a
homemaker.
She was born June 13,
1960, in Lincoln to Albert Ray and Bonnie Louise Holloway Adams. She
married Roderick Lloyd McDougall on April 15, 1980, in Decatur. He
survives.
Also surviving are
her mother, of Lincoln; her stepmother, Belva Adams of Lincoln;
three daughters, Karen, Jessica and Amanda McDougall, all of
Lincoln; one son, Jeremy Adams of Lincoln; one sister, Kimberly
Adams Huynh of Lincoln; and two brothers, David Adams of Bloomington
and Albert Adams Jr. of Lincoln.
She was preceded in
death by her father and her grandmother Gladys DeHart.
She was a member of
Kingdom Life Ministries.
She had attended
Atlanta and Lincoln public schools.
