Louella Kagel
Louella M. Kagel, 77, of rural
Ellsworth died at 10:40 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Heritage
Manor in Colfax.
Visitation at Carmody-Flynn
Williamsburg Funeral Home, 1800 Eastland Drive in Bloomington, will
be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
There will also be a half hour of
visitation at Bloomington’s St. Patrick Church of Merna preceding
the funeral at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Gerald T. Ward will
officiate at the service.
Burial will be in Blue Mound Cemetery,
Blue Mound Township.
Mrs. Kagel was a homemaker and worked
for many years as a meter reader for Corn Belt Electric.
She was born June 18, 1925, at
Hartsburg to Louis Nicholas and Edith Schwantz Baker. She married
Charles DeLoss Kagel on Aug. 15, 1953, in Lincoln. He died Dec. 5,
1998.
Surviving are four daughters, Ruth (and
Gerald) Poppe of Chenoa, Jane (and John) Hogan of Dalton City, Karen
(and Mark) Wyant of Ellsworth and Mary (and Daniel) Kerber of
Arrowsmith; one son, John D. Kagel of Chenoa; 12 grandchildren,
Phillip Poppe, Craig, Lynn and Alan Hogan, Zeb, Wendy, Zach and
Jenny Wyant, Chris, Kelly and Nick Kerber, and John David Kagel Jr.;
two sisters, Esther (and Rudy) Lolling of Lincoln and Irma (and
Bill) Neil of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one brother, Wilbur (and Mac)
Baker of Lincoln.
Mrs. Kagel was a member of St. Patrick
Church of Merna in Bloomington, Women of the Moose, Ellsworth
American Legion Auxiliary and Home Extension East Siders. She had
been a 4-H leader for the Ellsworth Tip Toppers.
She was a graduate of Hartsburg-Emden
High School.

Ruby ‘Nana’ Bubert
Ruby E. "Nana" Bubert, 88, of Mason
City died at 9:05 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Mason City Area
Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday at Hurley Funeral Home, 603 E. Chestnut in
Mason City.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday
at First Christian Church in Mason City, with the Rev. Bill Boyce
officiating.
Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.
She was a cook at Prairie Trails Inn
for more than 10 years.
She was born April 17, 1914, in
Liletown, Ky., to Charles W. and Ader Magdelene Ennis Lile. She
married Luther Wilcoxson on Oct. 4, 1928, in Jefferson, Ind., and he
died in 1957. She married Bobbie Bubert on March 12, 1959, in
Havana, and he died on June 28, 1997.
Surviving are three sons, Lou (and
Helen) Wilcoxson of Golden, Colo., Danny Wilcoxson of Mason City and
Donny (and Nina) Wilcoxson of Lincoln; two daughters, Patricia (and
Robert) Lough of Mason City and Margaret (and Raymond) Dye of Mason
City; 18 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one
daughter, Bessie Lynch; four brothers; four sisters; two
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Christian
Church in Mason City.
Memorial
contributions may be made to her church or to the Juvenile Diabetes
Association.

Ronald ‘Zeke’ Zeisness
Ronald "Zeke" Zeisness, 73, of Mount
Pulaski died at 7:37 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at Doctor’s
Hospital in Springfield.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday
at the Mount Pulaski First United Methodist Church, with the Rev.
Carol Andricks officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the
service.
Burial will be in Melbourne Cemetery,
Melbourne, Iowa.
Zeisness retired from Logan-Mason
County Health Department.
He was born July 6, 1929, in
Marshalltown, Iowa, to Leonard and Marge Frease Zeisness. He married
Jeannie Graeber in Melbourne, Iowa, on Dec. 27, 1948.
Survivors are his wife, of Mount
Pulaski; one daughter, Lynn Marie Wessolowski of Twin Lakes, Wis.;
two sons, Kim Jay Zeisness of Lakeville, Minn., and Jay Thomas
Zeisness (and Kathleen Oertle) of Urbana; four grandchildren, Scott,
Sarah, Josh and Brianne; one sister, Judith (and Dean) Diamond of
Clive, Iowa; and one brother, Norman (and Ginny) McCreary of Cedar
Rapids, Iowa.
He was a member of First United
Methodist Church of Mount Pulaski and its Men’s Club.

Gordon Ireland
Gordon H. Ireland, 88, of Lincoln died
at 10:40 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at his home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with the Rev. Greg Wooten
officiating.
Burial will be in Zion Cemetery,
Lincoln.
Ireland worked as an assistant manager,
head grocery clerk and in the produce department of the in Lincoln
A&P and Kroger grocery stores. He retired in 1977.
He was born Nov. 27, 1913, in the rural
area north of Noble to James and Lucy Trowbridge Ireland. He married
Opal S. Dority on Sept. 13, 1936, at her mother’s home on College
Street in Lincoln.
The Irelands were inseparable during
their 62 years of marriage. Mrs. Ireland died Sept. 9, 1998, and the
date of his death was exactly four years later.
Surviving are one son, James (and
Nancy) Ireland of Lincoln, and two granddaughters, Sherry (and
Randy) Wagnon of Maryville and Brenda (and Brad) Centers of Lincoln.
He was also preceded in death by one
brother, Herman. He was the last of his immediate family.
He was a member of First Church of the
Nazarene in Lincoln, was a former Sunday school teacher and
superintendent, served on the church board, and sang in the church
choir.
He was a former member of the Holiday
Rambler Camping Club and Retired Good Sams Camping Club.
He graduated from Lincoln Community
High School in 1933 and attended the Chicago Evangelistic Institute.
Ireland loved his little family,
especially his granddaughters. He was a devoted husband and loving
father and grandfather and will be missed by all of his family and
friends.
