Frances Gleason
Frances M. Gleason,
77, of Elkhart died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at 4:45 p.m. in St.
John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln,
with a rosary service at 4 p.m.
There will also be
visitation from 9:15 until 9:45 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s
Catholic Church in Elkhart. The funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m.,
with Father Patrick De Meulemeester officiating.
Burial will be in
Elkhart Cemetery.

Eloise Jones
Eloise M. Jones, 73, of Lincoln died
at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in
Springfield.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her funeral
will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Lincoln Christian Church.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery in
Lincoln.
Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 24, 1929, in
Tuscola to George and Nellie Stanley Birk. She married
Lawrence "Larry" Jones in Lincoln on Aug. 17, 1947.
She owned and operated Eloise’s Beauty
Shop in Lincoln for 43 years.
Survivors are her husband; two
daughters, Sonjo (and Gary) McAfee and Marla (and Greg) Shanle, both of
Lincoln; three grandsons, Jay (and Heather) McAfee of New Holland
and Jeff
McAfee and Kevin Shanle, both of Lincoln; one granddaughter, Carrie
Shanle of Lincoln; one great-grandson, Nathan McAfee of New Holland;
three brothers, Hobert Birk of Manchester, N.H., and Gilbert Birk and
Jimmie "Pete" Birk, both of Lincoln; and two sisters, Patricia Calvo
of Hemet, Calif., and Linda Smith of Ponca City, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, one grandson, one sister and one brother.
She was a member of Lincoln Christian
Church.
Memorials
may be made to Lincoln Christian Church, the American Cancer Society
or the American Diabetes Association.

Robert Bode
Robert E. Bode, 51, of
McLean died at 5:55 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Heritage Manor
Nursing Home in Normal.
Visitation will be
from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta. A rosary
service will be at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral will be
at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Church in Atlanta, with the Rev.
Thomas Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in
Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.
He was born Dec. 3,
1950, in Lincoln to Everett and Marjorie Pfeifer Bode.
Surviving are his
parents, of McLean; one son, Brett (and Marie) Bode of Omaha, Neb.;
one daughter, Angie Bode of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Beverly (and
E.J. Spaulding) of McLean; and two nephews.
He was preceded in
death by one sister.
Bode was a member of
St. Mary’s Church of Atlanta and the McLean County Antique Car Club.

Edna
Bale
Edna Pearl Bale, 95,
of Easton died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Maple Ridge
Care Centre in Lincoln.
Visitation at Hurley
Funeral Home, 603 E. Chestnut in Mason City, will be from 6 to 8
p.m. Thursday.
Her funeral will be
at 1 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home in Steeleville. Visitation
there will be one hour before the service.
Burial will be in
Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Rockwood.
Mrs. Bale was a
homemaker.
She was born Feb. 18,
1907, in Degonia Township to George W. and Josephine Pinkerton
Smith. She married Murray Roy Van Meter on July 2, 1927, and he died
May 2, 1955. She married Harold "Bud" Bale on Aug. 13, 1976, and he
died Aug. 10, 1992.
Surviving are four
sons, Homer (and Donna Jean) Van Meter of Easton, Bill (and
Margaret) Van Meter of Washburn, George Wayne (and Phyllis) Van
Meter of Washburn, and Delbert (and Kathy) Van Meter of Ellis Grove;
two daughters, Ann (and Duane) Kinney of Coulterville and Linda Bare
of Easton; 32 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and 16
great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded
in death by three sons, Donald Ray Van Meter, Howard Dale Van Meter
and Roy Clifford Van Meter; four brothers; four sisters; and four
grandchildren.
She was a member of
Rockwood Baptist Church and Easton Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St.
Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
