Wayne Charles Buse
Wayne Charles Buse,
69, of Chestnut died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at 1:55 a.m. at St.
John's Hospice in Springfield.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
His funeral will be
at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Lincoln,
with the Rev. Ray Hudson officiating.
Burial, with military
rites, will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery, rural New Holland.
Mr. Buse had worked
at Lehn and Fink in Lincoln and farmed in Logan County.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean War.
He was born July 27,
1933, in Lincoln to Fred and Frieda Buse. He married Jeanette Mosier
on June 24, 1955, at the First United Methodist Church. She died
Aug. 20, 1998.
Surviving are three
sons, Robert W. (and Kathy) Buse of Beason, Darren W. Buse of New
Holland and B. Lynn (and Tammy) Buse of Hartsburg; eight
grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Buse of Lincoln; and one sister,
Dorothy Cheney of Allenville.
He was a member of
First United Methodist Church of Lincoln.
He was associated
with the Railsplitter Festival and the Craft Guild of New Salem and
Clayville for a number of years.
Memorials may be made to the educational
fund at Chester-East Lincoln School or to the Railsplitter Festival.
Peter Andrews
Peter C. Andrews, 83,
of Lincoln died Friday, March 28, 2003, at 6:25 p.m. at the
Christian Village.
Visitation was Monday
evening at Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.
The rosary was recited before the visitation.
A Mass of Christian
celebration was Tuesday morning at Holy Family Catholic
Church in Lincoln, with Monsignor E. Edward Higgins officiating.
Burial, with military
rites, was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr. Andrews and his
wife owned and operated the GEM Restaurant in Lincoln for 39 years,
and he served as mayor of Lincoln from 1984 to 1988.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II.
He was born Aug. 20,
1919 in Porrovitsa-Akrata, Greece, to Costa and Katherine Rufogales
Androutsopoulos. He married Josephine Danosky on Oct. 12, 1946, in
Lincoln. She survives.
Other survivors are
three sons, George (and Sandra) Andrews of Peoria, Michael (and
Kathy) Andrews of Springfield and John (and Debbie) Andrews of
Lincoln; one daughter, Kathy (and Earl) Kirshner of Chicago; six
grandchildren, Theresa C. Andrews, Gregory A. Andrews, Aaron M.
Andrews, Anthony M. Andrews, John Thomas Andrews and Julian Kirshner;
two brothers, the Rev. John Androutsopoulos of Pittsburg, Pa., and
Panos Androutsopoulos of Porrovitsa-Akrata, Greece; and two sisters,
Athanasia Pampouki and Eleni Nikolopoulou, both of Porrovitsa-Akrata,
Greece.
He was preceded in
death by his parents and two brothers, Tom Andrews and Spiro
Androutsopoulos.
He was a member of
Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Lincoln Council
1250, Lincoln Elks Lodge 914, Lincoln AMVETS 71, American Legion
Post 263, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1756, Forty et Eight,
Lincoln Railer Booster Club and was active in the Lincoln baseball
program.
Mr. Andrews was
lovingly surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Memorials may be made to the building
fund of the American Legion or for Masses for deceased family
members.

Jean
Becker
Jean D. Becker, 71,
of Mason City died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at 2:22 p.m. at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
His funeral will be
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Home, 603 E. Chestnut in Mason
City. The Rev. Richard Chrisman will officiate. Visitation will be
one hour before the service.
Burial will be in
Allen's Grove Cemetery, rural San Jose.
Mr. Becker was a
lifelong farmer.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean War.
He was born Oct. 6,
1931, in Peoria to W. Earl and Louise Palmer Becker. He married Ruth
Leinweber on July 8, 1955, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church at Allen's
Grove.
Surviving are his
wife, Ruth Becker, of Mason City; one son, Eric Becker of New York,
N.Y.; three daughters, Jodi (and Tim) Allen of Mansfield, Sara L.
Becker of Prescott, Ariz., and Leigh Ann (and Matt) Swanson of Mason
City; three grandsons, Taylor and Garrett Swanson of Mason City and
Nathan Allen of Mansfield; one sister, Genevieve Case of Mesa,
Ariz.; and an aunt, Frances Becker of Mason City.
He was preceded in
death by his parents.
He was a longtime
member of the Polled Hereford Association and a former member of the
Mason City School Board and the board of directors of the Mason City
National Bank.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
American Heart Association.
