Lester
Anderson, 70, of Lincoln died Friday, April 4, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. at
Danville Veterans' Home.
Private family services are at a later date.
Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Glen Carbon, IL.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln is handling
arrangements.
Mr. Anderson was born March 24, 1933 in St. Jacob, IL.
He served in the United States Air Force.
Surviving are two sons, Lester (Norene) Anderson Jr. of
Bordentown, NJ and James Anderson of Bordentown, NJ; one brother,
George (Reva) Anderson of Cape Fair, Mo; two sisters, Amy (Vernon)
Gehlbach of Lincoln, IL, and Vivian Bonham of Olathe, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters,
and two brothers. |
Buford Funk
Buford S. Funk, 80,
of Lincoln died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at St.
John's Hospital in Springfield.
His funeral was Saturday
morning at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Dan Wissmann
officiating. Visitation was at the church on Friday.
Burial was with military
rites in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Arrangements are
being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Mr. Funk retired in
1979 from CILCO in Lincoln, where he worked in the gas department
for 24 years. He also worked as a mechanic at Langellier's in
Lincoln.
He served in the U.S.
Army, 83rd Infantry, during World War II and received the Purple
Heart.
He was born Nov. 16,
1922, in Lincoln to Daniel and Lula Huff Funk. He married Elvera M.
Moldenhauer on Aug. 16, 1942, in Lincoln. She died May 14, 1999.
Surviving are one
son, Gary S. (and Sharon) Funk of Sherman; two daughters, Linda (and
Dwain) Franz of Lincoln and Rebecca (Don) Cecil of Lincoln; six
grandchildren, Delyn Franz Duggins of Lincoln, Brian Duggins of
Lincoln, Tyler Franz of Lincoln, Cale Cecil of Lincoln, Katelyn
Cecil of Lincoln and Taylor Funk of Sherman; two brothers, Richard
Funk of Lincoln and Larry (and Patty) Funk of Jacksonville; and one
sister, Alice (and Don) Taylor of Bartonville; and a special friend,
Nancy Kleinman of Lincoln.
He was also preceded
in death by four brothers, one sister and one son, Dick.
He was a member of
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, where he served as elder, usher
and Eucharistic minister and was a member of the church council,
Crisis Ministry, 60 Plus and Lutheran Brotherhood. He was also a
member of American Legion Post 506 of Emden.
Memorials may be made to his church,
American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
