Henry S. Lolling

Henry S. Lolling, 88, of Hartsburg, IL died Friday, April 11, 2003, at 7:53 p.m. at Vonderleith Living Center in Mount Pulaski, IL.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, IL.  The service starts at 11:00 a.m on Monday.  Rev. David Russell will officiate.

Burial will be at Hartsburg Union Cemetery in Hartsburg, IL.

Mr. Lolling was a retired farmer and also retired as a realtor for Herb James in Springfield and Bock and Associates in Lincoln.

He was born November 1, 1914 in Hartsburg, IL, to Simon and Katie Klokkenga Lolling.  He married Helen Dengler on November 24, 1940 in Lincoln.  She preceded him in death on October 31, 2002.

Surviving are two daughters, Virginia Frost of Lincoln, Sara (John) Wilham of Heyworth; two brothers, Rudy Lolling and George Lolling both of Lincoln; one sister Ethel Coffey of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Stephen Phillips of Lincoln, Denise Bartlemay of Starsburg, Ann Montcalm of Lincoln, Christopher Phillips of Bloomington, IL, Michael Aper of Saybrook, IL, and Julie Aper of Fithian, IL; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and one sister. 

He attended St. John's Lutheran Church of Hartsburg.

He was former precinct comitteeman in Hartsburg, IL. National Farmer's Organization.

Memorials can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church of Hartsburg or Vonderleith Living Center.

Ann Kissinger

A memorial Mass for Ann Kissinger was Saturday morning at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln, with Father Thomas Taylor officiating.

No visitation was scheduled.

Mrs. Kissinger donated her body to medical science. Burial will be in New Union Cemetery at a later date.

Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kissinger, 84, died Dec. 31, 2002, at the Christian Village in Lincoln.

She was a librarian at Lincoln High School before she retired.

She was born April 13, 1918, in Lincoln to William and Amelia Gaus Devanny. She married Harold H. Kissinger on Jan. 13, 1951, in Lincoln. He died Aug. 25, 1987.

Survivors include Beth (and Jim) Fleshman of Lincoln, Michael Kissinger of Springfield, CeCi Hopper of Skokie, Chris (and Ed) Frye of Lake in the Hills, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by one sisters and two brothers.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and the Retired Teachers Association.

Memorials may be made to Lincoln Public Library.

Dr. John Raffa

Dr. John Raffa, 78, of Lincoln died Friday, April 11, 2003, at 1:27 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

John Raffa, D.C., owned and operated Raffa Chiropractic Clinic in Lincoln since 1954.

He was a U.S. Army paratrooper during World War II.

He was born June 5, 1924, in Ashland, W.Va., to Michael and Louise Ambrosini Raffa. He married Mildred "Micky" Alley in October 1953 in Moline.

Surviving Dr. Raffa are his wife, of Lincoln; four sons, Mark (and Donna) Raffa of Springfield, John K. Raffa of Northbrook, Doug Raffa of Springfield and Danny (and Tina) Raffa of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Katie, Hailey, Lexy, Jason, Natalie, Danyel and Daphne; and one sister, Peggy "JoAnn" Deane of Post Huemene, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Guy; and one sister, Mary.

He was of the Christian faith.

He was a 34-year member of American Legion Post 263 and a member of AMVETS.

He played violin at the Lincoln Depot and in the Lincoln area for many years and was a member of String-A-Longs and the Lincoln Area Music Society.

He was also an animal lover.

Memorials may be made to the building fund for American Legion Post 263.
