Reike Wibben

Reike S. Wibben, 87, of Emden died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at 4:14 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. David Russell officiating.

Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, rural Emden.

Mr. Wibben was a farmer.

He was born Sept. 22, 1915, at Hartsburg to John W. and Maggie Ites Wibben. He married Virginia Sank on June 15, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo.

Surviving are his wife, of Emden; one daughter, Janet Groth of Emden; two sons, Jim (and Marge) Wibben of Atlanta and Jeff Wibben of Emden; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Janette Coers of New Holland.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg.

Matthew Foreaker

Matthew L. "Matt" Foreaker, 21, of Lincoln, died at home Friday, April 18, 2003, at 6:40 a.m.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Monsignor E. Edward Higgins officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the service time.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.

He was born May 6, 1981, in Springfield to Leroy and Sally Saighman Foreaker.

Surviving are his fiancee, Casandra Simpson of Lincoln; his father, Leroy Foreaker of Toledo, Ohio; his mother, Sally Saighman of St. Cloud, Minn.; one sister, Cynthia Jo Foreaker of Plant City, Fla.; his grandmother Martha Houghton of Lincoln; his grandfather Bill Houghton of Lincoln; and an aunt, Suzanne Harris of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother and maternal grandparents.

He was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln.

He enjoyed singing karaoke, playing the drums, bowling and NASCAR races.

Memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses. A fund has been set up at State Bank of Lincoln.

Naomi Hinkley

Naomi Hinkley, 96, of Lincoln died Friday, April 18, 2003, at 1 a.m. at the Christian Village.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan officiating. An hour for visitation will precede the service. There was also visitation at the funeral home Monday evening.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Miss Hinkley worked for the Florida state comptroller's office for 33 years.

She was born Nov. 13, 1906, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Rush and Lydia Hahn Hinkley.

Surviving are one sister, Ruth H. (and Raymond) Dierker of Lincoln; two nieces, Carol D. (and John) Wieg of Hampshire and Janet D. (and H. Custer) Whiteside of Winter Park, Fla.; one nephew, Richard H. (and Lisa) Dierker of Groveland; and six great-nieces, Carrie and Carleen Wieg of Hampshire, Allison and Amy Whiteside of Winter Park, Fla., and Kristin and Kayla Dierker of Groveland.

Miss Hinkley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, the Missionary Society of the church, Lincoln Woman's Club and Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a volunteer at the Pink Shutter and enjoyed traveling and collecting stamps and coins.

Joseph Aldendifer

Memorial services for Joseph R. Aldendifer will be on Saturday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m., with a service at 3:30 p.m. and burial to follow at Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mr. Aldendifer died Nov. 8, 2002, in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

He had been a military and commercial pilot and president of the Mount Pulaski Telephone and Electric Company.

He was born May 17, 1916, to Joseph R. and Marguerite C. Aldendifer.

Surviving are his wife, Cynthia, of Lincoln and Rancho Mirage, Calif.; three sons, Joseph R. Aldendifer of Corona, Calif., James Aldendifer of South Bend, Ind., and Curtis E. Aldendifer of Honolulu, Hawaii; a brother, James Aldendifer of Lincoln; and a sister, Marianne Tucker of Naples, Fla.

He attended Central School in Lincoln; St. John's Military Academy in Delafield, Wis.; and Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colo., where he was in the class of 1939.

In 1940 he applied for flight training with the U.S. Army Air Corps and began his training at Lindbergh Field, San Diego, Calif., with the Ryan School of Aeronautics. He completed flight training at Kelley Field, Texas, with the class of 1941.

He was assigned to the 95th Bomber Group of the 8th Air Force at Harham, Suffolk, England. He served as command pilot of a B-17 squadron and in that capacity was award the Distinguished Flying Cross in June 1945.

Later in 1945, following his discharge, he began his commercial flying career with Continental Airlines. He retired from the airline in 1976.

Soon thereafter he returned to Lincoln and assumed the role of president of the Mount Pulaski Telephone and Electric Company. He held that position until 1991, when the company was sold to the Rochester Telephone Company.

Iola Collier

Iola Collier, 93, of Mount Pulaski died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at 8:30 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Carol Andricks officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Mrs. Collier worked as a cook and on the assembly line at Stetson China in Lincoln.

She was born July 3, 1909, in Mount Pulaski to Harvey and Susanna Delaney Walker. She married William "Bill" Collier in Bloomington on March 24, 1932. He died Aug. 16, 1993.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Mount Pulaski United Methodist Church.

Gladys Anderson

Gladys M. Anderson, 91, of Lincoln died Friday, April 18, 2003, at 1:05 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor. 

Her funeral was Tuesday morning at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan and the Rev. William Adam officiating. Visitation preceded the service.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Mrs. Anderson owned and operated her own catering business.

She was born Sept. 15, 1911, in Lockman, Iowa, to Fred and Faith Hope Meeker Clouse. She first married Wendell Layden, who died in 1948. Later she married Harold Anderson, who preceded her in death in 1978.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Donald Layden, who died in 1999, and one brother, Earl Clouse.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Edna Shankey of Leesburg, Fla.; five grandchildren, Pam Pollett and husband Ron of Lincoln, Ellen Pietrzak and husband Chris of Petersburg, Mike Layden and wife Lily of Springfield, Thomas Layden and wife Jenny of Glen Carbon, and Susan Rockow and husband Steve of St. Louis, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Before moving to Lincoln in 1996, Mrs. Anderson lived in Aurora; at Sannabel Island, Fla., from the late 1960s to 1985; and in Palmyra from 1985 to 1996.

In Florida, as well as in Illinois, she was quite well-known for her creative shell and craft work.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

Margaret Ingram

Margaret J. Ingram, 77, of Lincoln died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at 10:56 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

A prayer service and visitation were on Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral was Tuesday morning at Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with Father Thomas Taylor and Father Richard Altine officiating.

Burial was in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mrs. Ingram was a supervisor at Lincoln Developmental Center before she retired.

She was born July 23, 1925, in North Dakota to Paul and Leona Phelan Downey. She married Harold A. Ingram on June 28, 1946, in Springfield.

Surviving are three sons, Harold R. (and Theresa) Ingram Jr. of Crossville, Tenn., Edward F. (and Roberta) Ingram of Lincoln and James Ingram of Lincoln; one daughter, Dorothy Cockrane of Rochester, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Ann (and Norman) Anderson of Normal and Jane (and Bob) Minnick of Lincoln.

She was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln and Women of the Moose Lodge 1441.
