Gregory
C. Kirk Sr., 51, of Atlanta died Wednesday (Aug. 20, 2003) at 7:28
p.m. at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His
funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader.
Burial
will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr. Kirk
was a mental health technician at Lincoln Developmental Center and
then transferred to Jacksonville Developmental Center.
He was
born Oct. 9, 1951, in Lincoln. He married Jenny Sarver on May 15,
2001, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Survivors are his wife, of Atlanta; his mother and stepfather,
Marguerite Sandel Kirk Sutheard and Frank Sutheard of Lincoln; two
sons, Gregory C. Kirk Jr. (and wife Abby) of Lincoln and
Matthew A Kirk (and fiancee Precilla Allgood) of Girard; three
daughters, Stephanie M. Kirk of Springfield, Amber N. Lessen of
Atlanta and Candice A. Purlee of Atlanta; four grandchildren,
Lillian Rose Kirk and Isabella Ray Kirk, both of Girard, and Nolan
James Hemenway Kirk and Reagan Jolie Kirk, both of Lincoln; one
brother, Jimmy (and Sandy) Kirk of Lincoln; five sisters, Ruthann
(and Chuck) Shepard of Minot, N.D., Margaret (and Carl) Wilson of
Springfield, Judith (and David) Waters of Springfield, Carolyn (and
Melvin) Spears of Lincoln and Rose (Sean) Kennedy of Divernon; a
half sister, Vera Kirk of Flora; and several nieces and nephews.
He was
preceded in death by his father, Clarence William Kirk.
He was a
member of Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln and
Alcoholics Anonymous. He was a coach for Special Olympics at Lincoln
Developmental Center.

Marvin
Davenport
Marvin E. Davenport,
75, of San Jose died Friday (Aug. 22, 2003) at 7:15 a.m. at his
home.
Visitation will be
from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, and his funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday,
both at Hurley Funeral Home in San Jose. The Rev. David Wetterlund
will officiate at the service.
Burial will be in
Prairie Rest Cemetery, Delavan.
Mr. Davenport worked
for Stetson China in Lincoln for several years and retired from
Caterpillar in East Peoria after 24 years.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean War.
He was born July 24,
1928, in Manito to Carvey and Isa Keith Davenport. He married
Virginia Garrett Green on May 11, 1987, in Lincoln. She survives.
Other survivors are
one son, Roy E. Davenport of Lincoln; one stepson, William Green of
Humble, Texas; two daughters, Lois (and Melvin) Chrisman of Lincoln
and Ruth (and Robert) Vieira of Atlanta; three stepdaughters, Bonnie
J. Happach of Utica, Linda K. (and Tim) Aeschliman of Delavan and
Katherine (and Wallace) West of San Jose; 23 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; one brother, William (and Susan) Davenport of
Skandia, Mich.; and two sisters, Lois Johnson of Lincoln and Eleanor
Hashman of Midland City.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, two brothers and one grandchild.
He attended Faith
Baptist Church in Pekin.
He was a member of
UAW 974 of East Peoria.
